Vaadwaur Lock Box FAQ 03-02-2015 until 02-28-2017
Q: When will the Vaadwaur Lock Box be available?
A: The Vaadwaur Lock Box will appear around 10:00 a.m. PST on Thursday, January 29th. Actual times may vary by a few hours depending on maintenance schedules.

Q: How can I acquire a Vaadwaur Lock Box?
A: The easiest way is to simply play the game. The Lock Boxes are dropping as loot in both ground and space game play. Another way to get them is from the in-game auction house or by trading with other players. Finally, they can be found in the Dilithium Store for purchase using Refined Dilithium.

Q: Since these are dropping as loot, does this mean I’m missing out on other loot I could be getting?
A: No. Any Lock Boxes that drop as loot are in addition to any other loot that might be dropped. You will get them in addition to other loot, not instead of other loot.

Q: Are there any special places where the boxes drop more or less frequently?
The Lock Boxes have a fixed drop rate that applies to any region where combat may take place. Special events may be announced at a later date that could allow for increased drop rates or offer Lock Boxes as rewards for completing specific content. Lock Boxes do not drop during missions created using The Foundry.

Q: How do I open a Vaadwaur Lock Box?
Right click on the Lock Box in your inventory and select “Use,” or double click.

Q: Why does it say that I need a Master Key?
If you attempt to open a Lock Box and you do not have a Master Key, you will get a message informing you that you need a Master Key. If you have at least one Master Key when you open a Lock Box, it will consume one (and only one) of the Master Keys as part of opening the box.

Q: Where can I get a Master Key?
Master Keys are for sale in the C-Store. You can purchase them for 125 Zen each, or buy a ten pack of keys for 1,125 Zen.

Q: Will existing items on the Lobi Store be removed when this update occurs?
No. The above list of items is only being added to the existing inventory. All items currently on the Lobi Store will still be available when the above list of new items is added, with the exception of any Limited Time items which will expire under their own separate time frames.

Q: Where can I find this store?
The store is located on Drozana Station in the Neutral Zone, and is also accessible remotely from anywhere in the game by double-clicking or by right-clicking a Lobi Crystal in your Inventory and choosing “Use” from the menu.

Q: How will I know how to use the store?
A mission is available that will teach players how to use Lock Boxes, Keys and the new Lobi Crystals. Look for a Ferengi on Earth Spacedock and Qo’noS to get the mission. The mission is also available remotely through the Available tab in the Mission Journal. NOTE: This mission can only be completed once per Account.

Q: Are Lobi Crystals tradeable?
Lobi Crystals are not tradable between players, but they can be traded to other characters on your account via the Account Shared Bank. Additionally, most of the items in the store can be traded after they are purchased. Right-click on an item from the store interface to inspect its details, which will include information on whether or not it can be traded to other players.

Q: Will the Lobi Crystal Store go away after the Vaadwaur Lock Box event ends?
No. The Lobi Crystal Store will always be available as a way to trade your Lobi for special items. However, the items for sale will occasionally be updated.

Q: Will the items in the Lobi Crystal Store always be the same?
No. We will also occasionally offer additional items thru special events and limited-time discounts. Keep your eyes open for promotion announcements!

Q: What are the odds for getting each of the rewards in the Lock Box?
We are not providing exact numbers the prizes contained within the Vaadwaur Lock Box. The average value for a normal Lock Box is around 175 Zen.

Q: What are the specifications for the starships?
Specific statistics and details for any ships becoming available with the Vaadwaur Lock Box are available in this Dev Blog

Q: Does getting any of the Vaadwaur ships unlock them for all of my characters?
No. These starships are special in that each one awarded can be “unpacked” onto only one character. Once unpacked on that character, it stays with that character. You cannot claim this ship for other characters on your account, nor can you reclaim it if you decommission the ship.

Q: Why does this ship work differently from others in the game?
We are using the Lock Box to release starships that normally could not be put into the game or the C-Store because it would not be IP appropriate to have them widely available. Rather than simply not have them in the game, we are using this alternate way to make something special available to the player base.

Q: Are you planning to change other ships to work this way?
No. For normal gameplay ships, we plan to stick with the account-wide unlock approach.

Q: Will these ships go into the C-Store later?
We are not currently planning to put any of these ships into the C-Store for direct sale. They will be available via the Vaadwaur Lock Box, and then no longer be available for some unknown period of time. We may decide to make it available again via a similar method in the future.

Perfect World Entertainment Community Rules and Policies

Your use of the forums -Forums- provided by Perfect World Entertainment -PWE- constitutes your agreement to these Rules and Policies -Rules and Policies-, which apply to all posts, profile information, avatars, signatures, and any other content on this site as well as your use of the Forums.

Limitation Of Liability
Please understand that: (a) members of the community contribute to the content of these Forums; (b) PWE does not control the content that is posted on the Forums and is not responsible for such content; and (c) PWE does not in any way guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, legality or completeness of any such content.

You expressly agree that you bear all risks associated with such content and that PWE is not liable in any way for such content, for any errors or omissions, or for any losses or damages incurred as a result of accessing or using such content.

These Rules and Guidelines are in addition to, and not en lieu of, the terms and conditions contained in the Perfect World Entertainment vBulletin Infraction System, Perfect World Entertainment Community Policy, Perfect World Entertainment Terms of Service and the Perfect World Entertainment Privacy Policy. Perfect World Entertainment reserves the right to change or modify its policies at any time for any reason.

Reporting Violations
If you believe that someone has violated our Rules and Policies or you have spotted content that may otherwise require attention, you may submit a 'Forums and Website' Ticket here with a brief description of what you believe is wrong. Notification is voluntary and anonymous, but in no situation should a user respond to an issue personally, thereby aggravating the situation further.

Report violations, do not quote them or reply to them. Responding to a violation in an inflammatory manner is a violation in itself and will result in appropriate action. It is also important to not abuse the Ticket system by excessively reporting posts, sending false alarms, or nonsensical messages. Abuse of the Ticket system can result in an infraction for spamming.

Community Moderators
Perfect World Entertainment makes use of community moderators to enforce the Perfect World Entertainment Community Rules and Policies. Moderators may not issue infraction points, suspensions, or bans, but may remove the content of posts which are found to be in violation of these rules and policies. Community Moderators are selected by members of the PWE Community Team. The community may be asked to participate in selection of volunteer moderators, but the PWE Community Manager makes the final selection. When new moderators are needed, a PWE Community Manager will inform the community of how many moderators are needed and the application process. Community Moderators are unpaid volunteers, and their views and opinions may not reflect the views and opinions of PWE. In addition, as Community Moderators are not employees of PWE, their service to their community may be discontinued at any time they choose, or may be discontinued by a member of the PWE Community Team at any time and for any reason.

Any content that violates our Rules and Policies will be removed by a Community Moderator within a reasonable period of time after PWE becomes aware of it. Interpretation and enforcement of the Rules and Policies is at the sole and exclusive discretion of PWE.

If you violate these Rules and Policies and/or show a disregard for them, PWE and/or our community, your posting privileges may be suspended or terminated. PWE may, but is not obligated to, edit or remove any content without notice or appeal. These Rules and Policies are subject to change at any time without notice.

PWE Infraction Policy
The vBulletin infraction system identifies, and keeps track of violations of our Community Rules and Policies. The primary purpose of this infraction system is to maximize the enjoyment of the users of our forums. To this end, we use the following point and penalty system:
  • 5 points results in a 3 day suspension.
  • 10 points result in a 7 day suspension.
  • 15 points result in a 14 day suspension.
  • 20 or more points result in a permanent ban.

PWE shall, in its sole discretion, identify infractions and assign the points value for each infraction. Warranted infractions will be given out as 5 points. PWE reserves the right in its sole discretion to change the point value assigned to any infraction at any time. The following list sets forth some of the more common types of infractions. This list is not intended to be a complete list of all infractions.

Infraction points may only be given by a member of the PWE Community Team, and may not be given by a Community Moderator. Community Moderators may suggest, however, that a member of the community receive an infraction point. Infraction Points may be given for violating any of the Perfect World Entertainment Community Rules or Policies.

Disputing an Infraction

If you wish to dispute an infraction, you may file a 'forums and website' ticket on our support page located at: A member of our Community Team, other than the individual who gave the infraction, will review your dispute and make a final call on the matter. Once a dispute has been reviewed and actioned, the issue will be considered closed and not subject to additional review.

PWE has the final say on all aspects of this community. If you have a problem, you may make a complaint to PWE directly through our support site, and not publicly on the website. Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions, such as post removals and thread closures, is not permitted.

Community Moderators may issue zero point warnings when removing content which violates the Perfect World Entertainment Community Rules and Policies. Warnings serve as friendly reminder of the Perfect World Entertainment Community Rules and Policies and have no bearing on your account. As such, warnings may not be disputed, and will never be overturned.

Delta Rising - Operations Pack FAQ 09-02-2014 until 10-02-2099
Q: How do I claim my Operations Pack items at launch?
When you purchase an Operations Pack, your account is flagged as having purchased it. On launch day, after Delta Rising is available to patch to via your current launcher application, the Operations pack items become claimable via the in-game C-Store (Accessible via the minimap).

Q: If I already purchased a Delta Rising: Operations Pack prior to the new ship being added, will I get the new items, too?
Yes! We're happy to announce that all players who have purchased a Delta Rising: Operations Pack since they launched on September 2nd 2014, as well as players who purchase an Operations Pack in the future, will have the Dauntless Experimental Science Ship!

Q: Where can I learn more about the Delta Rising: Operations Pack?
Check out our Delta Rising: Operations Pack site at

Q: Is the Delta Rising expansion free-to-play?
YES! The Delta Rising expansion will be very similar to our already generous free-to-play philosophy, including no fee to download or play the content.

Q: When will I be able to claim my Delta Rising Pack rewards?
You will be able to claim the contents of your Delta Rising: Operations Pack once the Delta Rising expansion releases this October.

Q: How can I claim my Delta Rising Pack rewards in-game?
All of the rewards will be claimable within the in-game C-Store upon the release of the Delta Rising Expansion in October.

Q: If I discharge one of the ships that I bought with the Delta Rising: Operations Pack, can I get it back?
Yes! Any ship you've unlocked via the purchase of the Operations Pack is reclaimable through the in-game C-Store or via a starship requisitions contact.

Q: How many <weapon/console> slots do these T6 ships have?
Information about the awesome Tier 6 ships' stats will be unveiled in the near future.

Q: Will I be able to access the Ships or Items on the test server before the expansion is released?
No. All of the rewards will be claimable within the in-game C-Store upon the release of the Delta Rising Expansion in October.

Q: Because I already subscribe monthly/ have a lifetime subscription (LTS), or am a X-Day Veteran, what rewards do I get from these packs?
None of the items in the Operations Pack are being included as such rewards, and having a monthly/ Lifetime subscription does not grant you any additional benefits and/ or rewards when purchasing an Operations Pack. The Operations Pack allows players to pre-order Tier 6 Ships and other extras (our Delta Rising C-Store offerings) at a bundled, discounted rate.

Q: Do any of these packs come with a Gold Account Subscription or Lifetime Subscription?
No, they do not.

Q: How long will these packs be available for?
We currently do not have plans to remove this pack for purchase, but their current pricing is available for a limited-time only. Once we have a date solidified for when the pricing will adjust, we'll be sure to communicate it.

Q: What items in these packs are exclusive and cannot be obtained via the C-Store when Delta Rising launches in October?
The "Voyager", "Delta Quadrant Ambassador", and "Delta Quadrant Explorer" titles are exclusive to purchasers of the Operations Pack. The Special Delta Quadrant Duty Officer Mini-Pack is also exclusive in the sense that it will not be available in the C-Store for purchase, and contains three (3) unique Delta Quadrant Duty Officers that will join your crew. These Duty Officers are bound, cannot be donated to reputation or fleet holding projects, and provide no rewards upon dismissal. If all three are dismissed, you will be able to re-claim the mini-pack.

Q: There seems to be a discrepancy in the price in US Dollars and Euro - why?
In your conversion, please ensure you are taking VAT into consideration.

Q: Can I purchase a Delta Rising: Operations Pack and gift it to a friend?
No, not at this time.

Q: Are the exclusive Titles available for use on the Forums?
Yes! Log into the STO website and click on the "Edit your Avatar" link. Scroll down below the default selection of avatars to see the available titles. Choose the radio button next to the one you'd like to display and click 'Submit Title' to confirm.

Account Security and You 03-15-2012 until 04-15-2099
Hello Explorers & Adventurers,

There have been rumblings in the subspace channels about some nasty things going on with certain factions trying to compromise the accounts of the good people of this galaxy. This affects everyone, no matter what part of space that you claim as your home.

To help keep your Star Trek Online account safe, as well as your personal, and financial data safe and out of hackers/spammers/farmers/phishers greedy little stinky mouse clicks, you should heed the following advice:

1) Make your passwords UNIQUE (not something that you have used anywhere else, EVER).
Each account name and password for any game or website should ALWAYS BE DIFFERENT. That way if a list of game accounts is hacked from another company's games, that same info cannot be used to compromise your account.

2) Use at least 10-14 characters in your password. Mix up letters and numbers. Use capital letters and some English font based symbols if you want.

3) Do not share your account information with anyone. Not your spouse, louse, house, mouse, cat, dog, best friend, best friend's roommate's girlfriend's parakeet, little brother, and especially not Q.

4) Change your password every 3-6 weeks.

Advice on choosing passwords:
