unable to authenticate?

I have been trying to log into STO this morning and i have been receiving the messasge that the game is unable to authenticate i hop this dose not mean that it needs my retail key because i ordered from amazon and will probably not get it till the weekend. I would appreciate any clarification as to what this means thanks

Same here, after entering username and password and hitting Submit, about 10 seconds passes then it says "Unable to authenticate:". I ordered from Steam and was able to log in normally earlier this morning.

"Server up" green circle is misleading, or at least doesn't verify the state of the login server.

Also the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate keeps trying to update but fails, "tried connecting 6 times", etc.

After the autoupdate finally connected, login now works. Yay! I guess?

I've entered my retail key and I'm still getting this. Takes forever for "Update Launcher" and then when I get in finally, it tells me that it's Unable to Authenticate.

What's occurin'!

It is probably do to the scheduled maintenance - from 3am to 6am (11am to 2pm), as stated above the login area in the launcher.

*edit* Woops. I forgot to check the date of the previous posts - never mind this one :)
