1: Plasma Grenades (specially when trying to ninja-interact with mission objectives)

2: Exploiting an Exposed enemy with a multi-target exploit, just to have four more become exposed after you shoot

3: The scanner picking up every single anomaly on the map when you only got one more plant/alien device/medical crate to scan and finish the damned mission.

4: Boffs who charge at enemy groups you're trying hardly to avoid, a la Leeroy Jenkins.

5: Auxiliary Batteries droping from boss mobs.

I don't think I can think of 5 things. hmm..

Oh, then you haven't played enough.. :p

Boffs falling through the ground on away missions!?

Seeing that your exploration mission wasn't properly acquired only after you completed, and thus not getting any SP?!

Although i reckon those are bugs, and not necessarely annoying game mechanics..

well, if you're playing the game, then you're in it. so yes, you are.

if you're not playing the game, then you have no idea what the game is like, and then you wouldn't know what's annoying.

EDIT: i'm just messing with you by the way. i'm not that serious about the game. and to prove it, here's my list:

1. Almost every time I'm sent to "explore" something i end up having to blow something up.

2. swordmaster & targs (i list them together because you usually find them together)

3. wander klingons (or any other fraking alien)

4. no access to a mail station at ganalda station (for sending & retrieving items)

5. when in ground combat and targeting someone, your wasd keys move in different directions.

4. Lack of 360 degree movement so I am forced to climb like a heavy truck on a serpentine
5. Beaming to the bridge of my own starship (at least I have an excuse for poor performance in combat: 'Hey, I am not even on my bridge, it's all my BOs' fault'), and beaming to any friendly place with my weapon unholstered (Starfleet Security sends me hate tells every time ;) )

2. The research nodes spawning a little underground where you can't scan them.

3. No PC/bridge crew fur texture, dog/cat ears tails of any sort. (Yes,I know at least some of it is coming soon.)

4. No ship-wide uniform option for you, bridge officers and the random security red-shirts.

5. Skirts, skants and kilts needed. Long, short, male, especially female, different styles from all generations and new ones.

1. Spawn camping NPCs in fleet actions. Why is this even an issue. Hell, I know enough about a map editor to fix this myself. Do I have to come over to Los Gatos myself and take care of this. ;)

2. Unorganized BO ability vendor. I waste a lot of time hovering each skill to see what it is.

3. Food for heals. Why? No really. When has anyone in the ST IP every pulled a fried catfish out of their quantum singularity to heal themselves during battle. Make food long time buffs like some other MMOs.

4. Escort stupid NPCs that constantly stand next to you getting shot. They either need to pick up a phaser and get behind the away team.

Food are meant to be picked up to feed tribbles! They only have heal effect so that the tribbles can learn to do those when they are born.

Automatically being transported into Deep Space Encounters while just trying to travel across the map.
People who can't be bothered to read the quest bestowal dialogue properly and then constantly spam zone chat with questions like "Where's Memory Alpha?".
Arrogant English speaking people moaning about people not using English in the chat channels - it's a global game with one server, people can speak whatever language they choose.
Gold sellers.

1. Boffs puling whole rooms!

2. Turn rate of Galaxy Class and above cruisers and their lack of AoE aggro management.

3. Direction keys not working when targetting on ground missions

4. Ships getting stuck on asteroids and becoming untargettable but still firing back.

5. Starfleet bases being in every system in every empire (guess the Federation conquered the Alpha and Beta Quadrants and the other races just don't know it yet) No sense of borders or danger when in enemy space.

3. The 127,000,000 Batteries that have dropped for me.

I am finding one thing highly annoying about STO

Players who think because I play Star Trek online that I play dress-up in a Klingon outfit in real life, speak klingon, and think I give a damn about "honor".

I like Klingons because I PVP, not because of maybe some deep psychological scars from not being picked first in kick ball, or not being what daddy wanted. I don't need to assert my manhood in a video game, it is asserted enough thanks. It's really on my nerves the people who can't separate fantasy from reality, fun is fun, but they need to get over it.

BOff pathing (excuse me first officer, would you care to join us on our mission, or would you rather stay here and hump this pillar?)

BOffs not firing their weapons! (or Exposing an enemy after I had already used my Exploit shot... brought on by their lack of firing!)

Trash drops (Oh boy, another Aux battery!)

Viral Matrix (rogue stun lock... in space!)

Targ Handlers (we need more targs! Scotty, beam down more targs!), Romulan Medics (it's ok, I can resurrect you while being shot in the face!), and those big Gorn guys who make you puke your guts up every 2 seconds. OK that's 3 things in 1, but we'll file them under "annoying mobs"

(dis)Honorable Mentions: Heavy Plasma Torpedos, Sector Space wandering enemies that force you into deep space encounters, BOffs not holstering their weapons, requiring a uniform change to update rank pips.

I qualify "annoying" as something that bugs me, but does not affect game play. So here are my top 5 annoyances that I'd like to see eventually addressed...

1- Beaming onto my bridge with weapon drawn.

2- Beaming into a non-hostile starbase with weapon drawn and seing all kinds of other people running around with their guns.

3- Not having a "usable" bridge chair. I should be able to just sit in it without having to jump up, turn, wiggle, backup, wiggle turn then emote. Sure the bridge serves no real purpose atm, but at least I would like to sit there quietly while I read information, my journal and plot character skills rather than just sit in Sector Space.

4- Blatantly stupid ship and character names.

5- "Diplomatic missions" that require me to diplomatically destroy over 16 BOPs and diplomatically kill over 100 Klingons.

Bonus ... Props to Quinto. I liked him in Star Trek and I like him in Heroes but his voice over is awful for the tutorial hologram.

Cheers!

4. Gold spammers. When will they learn that the future has no need of their material currency?
I'm more annoyed they actually call themselves gold sellers when they don't actually sell gold.

2. Being told what to do by my subordinates with zero choice! Who’s the Captain?

3. Either do a walkabout or kill everything.

4. Memory Alpha- Grrr, make crafting crafting not hide and go seek and seek and seek and seek and then guess quite a bit.

5. My keys losing their function in PVP ground combat. Geeze, they work ok for the first 30 seconds to one minute and then they just go to bizzaro world, I can’t turn around, just run sideways, then I can’t run forward just run sideways but of course its in any direction except the one I want.

And actually, beyond those five above, I am good and really REALLY enjoy the game regardless!

Exploiting an Exposed enemy with a multi-target exploit, just to have four more become exposed after you shoot

Boffs who charge at enemy groups you're trying hardly to avoid, a la Leeroy Jenkins.

Auxiliary Batteries droping from boss mobs.

These three.

Not being able to tell my BOFFs to holster their weapons.

This one.

And getting pulled into DSEs with no option to cancel or anything.

2 Not being able to target AoE's correctly because of previously mentioned enemies.

3. The skill cap

4.Cant decide between a gorn or a klingon. They are both so cool! :P

5. Did I mention the skill cap

And an honorary mention. There are two npc's RIGHT in front of you when you first beam onto the station that say where sulu is. Use your eyballs! Stop asking! ;P

2. People complaining about others star trek names when they called themselves capt kirk picard. I'm looking at you kirk pichard you cheesy douche!

3. Server down time :(

4. Batteries, by the ears of spock man! the only reason they have such a prolific drop rate is because not even the enemies will use them.

5. IV level drops that don't suit your ship and could never have been mounted on the ship you just killed. What, did I get this klingon on his way to market with all the useless drops he couldn't use?

not in order of priority or anything but...

1. Beaming in should always be with you and your officers with weapons away. Only by drawing it or by making your officers go into aggressive mode should they pull their iron.

2. Need more missons without blowing things up. I understand that there's a war on, but the Federation is basically causing the extermination of life wholesale in the quadrant.

3. Sector space needs to be visually tweaked. Or at least give us some options as to what is shown in sector space such as... removing the grid on the "floor" of the area. Remove the little white stands that the solar systems are standing on. Put in a visual effect of long streaming stars ahead and beside the ship so it actually looks like warp speed and not just full impulse.

4. Eliminate enemy contacts from pulling you into encounters so i can sit back and sip on my earl grey and enjoy the ride.

5. People who level up to Admiral in less than a week and complain about no end game less than a week after launch.

Boffs not being able to Path properly in Fire Caves, they'll start to go in a direction as a group then if one of them touches the other stop dead, meaning you have to guide them all manually through that instance the majority of the time.

The amount of grief people shouted out before they fixed the borg war zone. People wanted you to not kill the repair hubs and wait for these Mysterious Repair Hulks that NOBODY EVER SAW, and if you shot at a repair hub which coincidentally adds a point to the mission goal you'd get alot of rather derogatory insults.
Funny thing is now that mission is fixed you do indeed shoot the repair hubs to finish the mission.

Players saying they know best and calling others noobs for having a different weapon loadout than their own "UBER SPEC".

High level players farming fleet action zones intended for lower players. Admittedly I have done this a few times but only in retaliation, I have a couple of lowbies that need gear and having seen Rear Admirals lord it over a fleet action, it was the only way i was getting something.

The amount of intolerance for people who don't speak English as their primary language. Gene Roddenberry would be turning in his grave sector chat is anything to go by. The amount of nastiness I've seen just because someone asked a question in their own native language astounded me. For a game based on Star Trek where Earth is peaceful and mankind works together there sure was a surprising amount of Xenophobia

5. Barrack Obama. (Yea, he isn't in STO but he goes on any "most annoying" list)

1. Posters like this. They're infuriating both in the game and on the forums as they insist on trying to drag politics into everything. (And I'm always confused why a conservative would like Star Trek anyway. It's very nature is anathema to them. You know, what with its emphasis on civil rights and all that?)

2. The constant shouting in zone chat, whereever it may be. This is especially prevalant against the Crystalline Entity, where the appropriate tactic--destroy the shards with your weaponry--is shot down by so many people because they think that shooting the shards is the same as running into them with their ship or hitting them with mines, when it's not.

3. Broken quests. There are several quests at the moment that are broken that I would like to see fixed.

4. People who moan and whine about how this MMO is doomed and its a waste of money and Cryptic is going to fall. No. No it is not. Cryptic was handed an extremely short development time because they were the only ones who could take up the IP from Perpetual after Perpetual was revealed to be wasting their time and scamming for money. They agreed to honor the original release date which was set assuming the company developing the game would get five years to develop it. They had two. We should thank them, because otherwise we'd probably not have an STO at all. I

5. Lack of appropriate developer communication with the community. Despite my defense of them and the job they've done I am getting increasingly frustrated with their lack of real communication. They need to speak more to the community. I know they probably have their hands full, but surely they've got at least one representative who can spare a few minutes each day?

Don't blame players for this... blame cryptic.
1. Items aren't BoP
2. No end-game content for Admirals (boredom)
3. due to #2, creating alts and 'farming' for them

I always do this but i also always pick out one or two 'noobs' who I see are struggling and unload most of my gear on them (stuff that i won't be using on my alt).

Plasma Grenade DOT damage still ticking after respawning.

Camera "Autofollowing" your target.

Watching the hold timer go UP instead of down and essentially being held for 30 seconds until dead.

Ridiculously long "expose" state.

Damage being applied at the end of the shot, but cooldown starting at the beginning of the shot, so even if your phaser beam is pummeling their face, there is no damage if you're knocked back before it's over, but you're still in cooldown.

Shields disappearing on enemies.

The buggy bridge on the Assimilated Cruiser map.

Queue times

Being spawned into a PvP engagement 5v1 or 5v2 and getting rolled for half the battle until the game puts more in.

When steering with both mouse buttons, sometimes your ship will become locked into flying one direction until you press a directional key.

Special attacks auto-targeting turrets, generators, inanimate objects.

Space has limited movement- no loops, barrel rolls, etc.

No ability to sort by Name, Mk, or Price on the Exchange.

Being automatically pulled into deep space engagements... while in warp?

But all of the above- all of them pale in the comparison to the completely uncalled for and stupid "Space is like.. sooooooooooooo big" auto text for the Tricoder emote.
