I read a post made by Rusty_Diodes on a thread I made titled Reasons for your forum name. And the trivia started by this person plus a couple of other people made me want to do this thread. As I am not to familiar with this game, I think it has to do with connecting actors to Kevin Bacon. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

I will start with naming William Shatner.

Now let us start the game.

William Shatner was in the Wild with Keifer Sutherland. And Keifer was in that 'A Few Good men Movie' with Kevin Bacon.

Are we just going Star Trek? If so, how about Roxann Dawson...

Anything sci-fi related. I am not picky.

Should we change it???? Go ahead.

I think it should stay sci-fi related. If this game was only for Star Trek then this game would be too restricting.

Hmm, let me flex my geek muscle with this one...

B.D. Wong plays George Huang on SVU.

J.K. Simmons was in OZ with B.D. Wong.

Kyra Sedgewick is in The Closer with J.K. Simmons.

Kevin Bacon is married to Kyra Sedgewick.

Roxann Dawson directed several episodes of the Closer, as did Kevin Bacon.

That was a tough one.

Let's try: Tim Russ

John Candy was in Planes Trains and Automobiles with Kevin Bacon.

That's right. Who's your daddy now?

Next up: Christopher Lloyd

Thank you, Netflix for recommending Movie Madness.

How about the next one being Robert Beltran??

Well the point of the thread is to have fun - but for another reason:

The 6 Degrees of Seperation Theroy is / was based on an experiment done with Kevin Bacon - that almost everyone somehow knew Kevin Bacon through a chain of people no more than 6...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon

The theroy was later expanded and tested to almost all individuals, which you could be connected somehow (and since then there are tv shows on several channels on the 6 Degree Principal... though the best was the experiment on Discovery Channel where they sent two packages in different parts of the world and they had to end up at one address... that was cool while they were showing the research and programming being done with the 6 Degree Theroy) :D Today the threoy is applied to many other items - such as shipping, servers, traffic patterns... I'll stop there I think :D

... unfortuately, I'm not a Trekkie fan big enough to get any of the answers :) So I'll just watch.

hah, we were just talking about this in work. One of my Workmates is friends with James MacEvoy, who starred in Band of Brothers, which was directed by Tom Hanks, and Tom hanks starred with Kevin Bacon in Apollo 13.

Until we get our next Sci-fi one from Tessa, can we keep the thread alive with 5 degrees from ourselves?

Uh, how about Robert Beltran? Hint:: I adore terrible 80s movies, so you might not have seen one I think you'll have to use for this.

Kyra Sedgwick also starred in an episode of Miami Vice
Kyra Sedgwick married Kevin Bacon.

The easy path would have been Robert Beltran -> Tim Russ -> John Candy -> Kevin Bacon

But I figured that would be pretty lame.

Kier Dullea (David Bowman from 2001: A Space Odessey)

hints kind of defeat the purpose.

John Colicos was in Wrath of God with Skeletor, himself, Frank Langella.
Langella recently did a little film, Frost/Nixon, with Mr. Bacon.

I love Firefly. Am insanely jealous that friend I'm going to the show with tonight, got a picture of herself taken with Joss W. and Nathan Fillion took the picture.

Met the guy who played Xander from Buffy 2 months ago in LA. Never watched Buffy or Angel, but I definitely appreciate Firefly.

Nah- Occam's Razor (Rusty edition): The simplest answer is usually the easiest.

But these have been too easy for us. I think I've given you a better challenge with Alfred Abel. I'm quite certain, actually.

That was specifically for me? I took a film class in college and when you said Challenge, I remembered something about a lecture we had in regards to obscure foreign film. The guy CHALLENGED us to figure out the country they were made in.
He was in 'The Flame' (GERMAN, probably not this name in German) which had Pola Negri as a women of questionable virtue. She was in the Moonspinners (Disney movie, Hayley Mills, so it's funny Negri was in it) with the guy who played Stratos. He played the guy who owned the booze store in Mystic River--no idea what his name is...that Stratos guy.

Edited to add that I don't know the German name.

I am, indeed, referring to the star of Metropolis (1927)

Since we're doing Kevin Bacon Sci-Fi edition, I thought it appropriate to honor the first science fiction movie.

As to whether Tessa had the right guy, I don't know. I will leave that to our film student to discern.

2 classes... No scholar here.
The Flame? Yeah, it's a german play that was turned into a film (Die Flamme) in '23.
Alfred Abel was in it.

Wikipedia is a lovely thing.
Now I'm off to Wiki Metropolis to see if I can link that.

Christopher Reeve was in Superman with Rex Everhart
Rex Everhart was in Friday 13 with Kevin Bacon.

This was fun, but I think it's time to get our Star Trek on. The game will continue here:
