Some of us take a lot of time configuring the look of our BOffs, their uniforms, etc. I just wanted to share a trick that I've been using that may help some of you out.
Provided you still have character slots left, you can create a 'template' using the Character Creation screen at login. Then, when you get a BOff and you want to edit their config, just click the Load button and load up the config that you want.
Here's how it works...
Log in to STO and create a new character. Chose the Gender & Race that you want. Just check off enough Traits to get past the screen. They don't matter at this point. Now you're at the Character Creation screen. Create to your hearts content! When done, click the Save button in the bottom center. It'll save that config locally on your computer for you.
You can create and save multiple configs and multiple versions of a config. Maybe you like a specific Gender/Race and want a whole bridge full of them, but just with different hair styles. You can create one, Save it, change the hair, Save it again, change to the 3rd hair style, Save it again, etc. After you're done creating and saving your configs, just click Back/Back/Back until you're at the login screen again.
Cool thing about this is that you can create these configs in your leisure time, or when you're feeling creative. Keep in mind that you only get 1 free modification of a BOff, so if you opt to change them and then exit out, or want to come back later to finish, you're gonna pay for it. This way, you're all set and ready to go, just get your new BOff, Modify them, click Load, select the config you want and voila!

The only downside to this is that you may end up with character configs that never get used unless you get an Assignment of the same Gender/Race, but since the Character Creation uses the same config file, you could use those configs to create a new playable character.
Note: Character configs are Gender/Race specific. If you create a Human/Female and get an Alien/Female BOff, you will not be able to load up that config for use.
