I have a read several posts on here and it seems most people say take either proton or disruptor due to the amount of skill points it takes to level up. Some also love tetryon which takes a little more. What i want to know is if antiproton and polaron are better? Because really they should be they should either have some wicked ability or higher innate dps both of which seems not to be the case. The only benifit i can verify to antiproton is the easy ability to attain purple epics which should not be the motivator behind taking the weapons ideally u can obtain purps in all weapons. Does anyone know if this is actually the case? or are antiproton and polaron better?

The tree was designed with NO skill cap in mind. Very few things make sense under the skill cap mandate. Most of the skill system needs to be revamped if they want to keep the skill cap, but I don't think whoever was dumb enough to add the skill cap in the last minute will admit that.

I have a bad feeling they put the skill cap in to sell you the complete skill system via MT.

yeah, apparantly because they are 'exotic' weapons they should cost more points, even though they don't do any more damage than other weapons just with different (and not necessarily better) effects.

Thats a interesting article but i would like to see some in game statistics backing any of that up......That being said when was that article published?

The only possible advantage i see to using any of the exotic weapon types is that other players and npc's may have less of a damage resistance versus said weapon type. other wise just choose your favorite color and pew pew because 2.5% bonus effect isn't really going to make that big of a difference.

I can't honestly say I'm looking forward to blowing over half my RA skill points just because my favourite colour is purple.

I would like to see a rebalance of the skill tree that was created when there was no skill cap.

I would so much like to see the cap taken out of the game. If its that big of a deal for Cryptic to justfy doing they could make it so you choose a certain ship class and skill tree to be primary then charge double or triple points for training in a cross-class skill just allow us a way to keep accumulating points though.
