I have read several negative game reviews of STO, but I disagree with them all.
I played SWG back before they messed it up with the CU and then destroyed it with the NGE. I played WoW for several years. I have been playing eve since early 96'. And I enjoy several other games as well. I am no stranger to video games. With that said, I really enjoy playing STO. A game should be fun to play, and STO delivers in that respect. Some games feel heavy, they feel like work. STO is lighthearted fun, it keeps me coming back for more. Is there room for improvement? Yes, but that can be said of any game right after launch. Bottom line, STO is off to a great start, and if they keep adding to the game, it could easily become a gigantic hit.
Keep up the good work Cryptic.

LoL sorry I have to laugh. Off to a great start? Gigantic hit? Every game you mentioned is far superior I am glad YOU enjoy the game but I agree with every review about this game, its a snorefest, its a ripoff to the MMO and Star Trek players both and brings yet another negative mark to the MMO community.

I have to agree with Hogwash. I mean, c'mon, did you really think Star Trek Online would be like every other major MMO. Granted, I do not like the complete war-theme, but if this is set in a period when the galaxy is completely unstable, maybe a phaser fight every other scene isn't unquestionable. I mean, honestly, you didn't get all tingly every time you thought the central starship/space station in each series might fire its weapons? I know I did as a kid. I loved watching space combat.
Yes, there was a lot more to Star Trek. I honestly wish there was more typically "Trek" combat and I don't like the massacre" missions I have been hearing about on other forums, though I have not played them myself. Mostly, I've just been blasting Klingons, but I'm ony Lt. Cmdr 2.
I guess one reason I really enjoy this game is I take a very much more light hearted approach to it. Perhaps some people are expecting EVE or WOW in the Star Trek Universe?

I don't have any major disagreements with the reviews I've seen so far, but I'd like to know your timeframe in comparing how superior WoW and SWG are compared to STO? At launch for both games there could be a case against these two games being inferior to STO today. Melon objects degrading performance in SWG anyone? Long queue times and fedex/repeat quests in WoW? All at launch.
A more fair argument can be made if you compare SWG 6 months after (or pre NGE) vs. STO in 6 months, or WoW after 1st expansion vs. STO after 1st major expansion (~1 - 3 years).
I understand and fully agree STO is incomplete and people have complaints. Revisionist history however, just to make a hyperbole about how bad STO is, proves nothing.
