Unable to login to STO since afternoon of Saturday 3/27. It worked ok late Friday for a while but would get occasionally disconnected loading new map.
Now nothing works. When I click STO icon with runs Star Trek Online.exe , the initial patcher screen never displays...no screen at all displays. I just get a "star trek online" icon on my windows task bar, but the task isnt doing anything...or is waiting on a connection that never occurs.
Next I tried launchign GameClient.exe directly. This gets me to login screen. I login, and then on the screen where characters normally display I instead just see "Connecting to the Account Server" and it stays that way until it times out and I'm kicked back to login panel.
In the past when I could not login to server at least th patcher always loaded (on Friday for example, the patcher was loading and server status was online, but usualy could not get in)...now i dont even get patcher. Since both the StarTrekOnline.exe and the GameClient.exe fail with same issue, I dont think the problem is that the exe file is bad...but if it is, how do I download a new one given that the patcher wont load?
Results are the same regardless of whether or not firewall is on. I have made no changes to the PC recently.
I also am not having network problems....I can get to forums ok, and have logged in over both cable modem and also a DSL internet connection, with same negative result.
I ran nettest.exe mentioned in STO forums. I'm on cable modem and just now tested my network speed. I'm getting 10m bps download and 1.5m bps upload. Results are

The other suggestion you made about selection options button, etc is not valid because i get no launcher window up at all. When I run the STO launcher, I do not get patch window or any other window. I get a "star trek online" program added to windows task bar, but it is not doing anythign, and clicking the icon on taskbar doesnt display any window...The program appears to be hanging during startup. Even though nettest showed no ports blocked, I turned off firewall but still the launcher does not do anything.
Perhaps STO was updating a STO program or control file on my pc or somethign on saturday when problems were occurring, but I'm not sure where to look for damaged files. The error logs in the logs directory only show entry when I'm forced to terminate the dead STO task...no errors before then.
Also, when I run STO launcher and nothign happens other than program icon on windows taskbar , I then run crytpicerror.exe to try to send data on failed program to STO support, but crypticerror window does not list programs in either box...so it does not appear the patcher is fully initializing, or crytpicerror wasnt intended to diagnose patcher problems.
There have been no changes to my pc or firewall settings (although I also did just now add all ports as exceptions to firewall and program as exception to firewall, but no effect). I do see that the patcher logs had activity on 3/27..perhaps something incomplete was patched on that day. However, looking at errors.log, the most recent entry I have is 3/12.
Another odd thing is that in my cache directory, I see rdrShaderCache.hog has date of 3/29 and shaderCache.hog has date of 3/29, even though I have not successfully logged in or had the patcher/launcher window since 3/27. (I did try to login directly with gameclient.exe , bypassing patcher, on 3/29, so perhaps that is when cache updated). In any case, i've been unable to even get launcher window up for past 4 days now.
