MTV: "Star Trek," this little film that you've directed that's coming out next summer, where do you stand on it? Do you have a final cut, music in place?

Abrams: We've recorded most of the music, and we're about a week away from locking the movie.

MTV: Can you speak to the running time? Am I in for two and half hours of brilliant "Trek"?

Abrams: It will be a two-hour movie. I'm sick of these two-hours-and-forty-five-minute movies. Seriously, it's like I don't have enough time to say two hours and forty-five minutes. I'm exhausted just saying that twice. I can't stand it.

MTV: Do you have it on your iPhone or something? I heard a rumor that you had "Trek" footage somewhere.

Abrams: I did have it on my iPhone. Not the whole movie. I just had a little trailer footage. I showed Simon Pegg when we were at Comic-Con, I showed him this little trailer thing, and it was my favorite thing ever. He literally started weeping. It was ridiculous. He was sitting there, I mean, he must have been plastered. Because he was looking at my iPhone [crying].

IMO, Abbrams ***** and murdered Trek with the obomination he created. I see no reason to think he will do differently with the 2nd movie. I hope there is a special place in hell for him, Nokia, and Budwieser.

Thanks for the link, Godsrage. I really enjoyed the last Trek movie, but I didn't go see it in the theater. I have watched my DVD of it numerous times, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

While I will agree with others that it's not the same as previous Trek movies, I think Abrams did a good job with the last movie. (And yes, I own and enjoy all the other Trek movies as well) I'm glad I didn't listen to all the people who said the movie wasn't Trek and avoid it like the plague. In fact, after I'm done watching Top Gear, I'll probably watch it again.

I hope there is a special place in hell for him, Nokia, and Budwieser.

Now now. It wasn't pointless product placement to help the movie financially--they gave Nokia a spot on the movie because they developed the communicator prop (a very expensive prop) which was dropped because it was too large and clumsy. Budweiser was put in there because they were generous enough to let them use a brewery as the set of the bowels of the ship. They didn't have the time nor the money to build a good engineering section--and Abrams has a preference for using real world locations for a lot of his interior shots, so why not give them a shout-out for letting him use their location?

Nevertheless, Budweiser is just bad beer. Nokia phones aren't that bad, especially entry-level. Toughest little *******s in the world.

I liked the JJ movie. He breathed some new life into the genre and brought it up to the expectations on a younger generation.
