Ok, this may sound stupid, but its a decent question.
I have 2 computers that I use; a Dell Vostro 220 and a Dell Optiplex.
For some reason, I cannot get Star Trek Online to run on my Vostro, but it runs perfectly well on my Optiplex.
My Optiplex has a Pentium 4 2.6 ghz processor and an ATI Radion 9600 graphics card, and as far as I can tell, it is well below the minimum system requirements, but it runs fine. Is there a mistake in the system requirements or something?

First of all you have to compare the system specs of both computers. Since the Vostro is a laptop it probably can't handle the graphics of STO so that is why you are having a problem.
As far as I can tel the game requirements are correct, but without having all of the information about your computers I won't be able to compare and give you better information.

The Vostro is a desktop, not a laptop.
I will post the specs of both PCs. Maybe that will help.
Dell Vostro 220-
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz
2GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz
Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100
Dell Optiplex-
Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz
ATI Radeon 9600
1gb RAM
Let me know if this helps :)

I just type dell vostro into google and saw laptops, i just assumed that's what you had, my fault. I don't know the dell models of the top of my head because I hate dell as a company, but that's a discussion for another time lol
Anyway I think the Vostro can't handle the graphics that's why you are having a problem. When you try to run STO are you getting a message that says something about using lower settings, or something along those lines?

This.
Most modern games, in my experience, simply do not work with integrated video cards. Unless you can disable it and add a decent video card to it, you're probably not going to be able to get STO to work on it.
And if you do, don't forget to get a decent power supply.
EDIT: Your RAM is a bit low as well. You're probably gonna want to add some.

Actually his Optiplex has less RAM than his Vostro and he says the game runs well on it, so the 2GB on the Vostro should be fine. Of course more is always better, but 32 bit Windows (which is most likely what he has) can only see a max of 4GB anyway.

True, but he also didn't tell us the OS he's using for either system. If the Optiplex is using XP and the Vostro is using Vista, it would make a difference. 1 GB w/ XP gets you more umph than 2 GB w/ Vista, in my experience.

It should actually be the other way around, that's why I've said since Vista's release that its a downgrade to XP. Thank goodness for Win 7.
No matter what a new video card is needed. If a good one is bought then it will have some built in RAM which is always a plus when it comes to graphics. After that if there is a problem with the game running too slow, or not smoothly then maybe more RAM would be needed.

you're problem on the one machine is integrated graphics. you need to install a graphics card in that computer as Integrated graphics are not good for playing games on and here's why.
Integrated graphics cards are on the mother board and they don't have their own RAM to use. they use the system ram for all processing. you're CPU is also using this RAM to process things. The distance traveled by the bits of data from the system RAM to the graphics processor is a lot so response times are slow.
On Graphics cards, you have your own Video RAM built on the PCB (printed Circuit Board) where the graphics processor resides. graphics data is sent to the card and processed on the card. this shortens the travel distance and time on the data bits for processing.
This can also speed up you're over all performance by freeing up system memory for other things and using the graphics memory on the graphics card for only graphics. you're CPU will send the data to the card and not worry about processing it.
Integrated graphics are good when you are doing things that are graphically intensive, like photo and video editing or playing games.

I believe you mean that integrated graphics are NOT good when....
And yes, the integrated graphics is the problem. You need a separate video card. (NVIDIA and ATI are some popular ones).

Ok, it was hard to keep track of all that, but I think I've got it.
The operating system for the Optiplex is XP Pro, and the Vostro has Win 7 Basic.
I believe that you are right; the integrated card is the problem. However, even though I have expaneded my RAM to 4gb on my Vostro, it still will not run. I THINK what might be the problem is the fact that my Vostro is using an old Ethernet card, whereas my Optixplex is using wireless internet.
Anyway, thanks for all the help! :)

Also, I purchased a new graphics card for my Optiplex yesterday. I can get you the model number if needed.
And I'm selling my Vostro.....the integrated card is a total pain in the rear! :)

Alright, well, one other question.
How many characters can I create per profile? Can you make more on the Collecters edition?

You can create three characters with a standard account. Veteran rewards will grant an extra character slot at, I think, 100 days? And another after a year? Something like that, anyway. Or you can buy extra character slots from the C-Store.
EDIT: Collector's Edition is same as standard (3 characters). Lifetime Subscribers got 5 slots rather than 3, but I don't think Lifetime subs are available anymore.
