View Full Version : I will go life!

I am on a 6 month sub. I think it ends sometime in September. After that I quit! Why because I dont like the shoes;) Just joking I just saw someone quiting over uniforms and I just wanted to top that:)

Really I would life to go life. I did not go life orginally because I missed the special pricing at launch. I think with the demo and free trial they are doing I think they should do a good deal for life again. Give me a good enough deal and I will do it!

I agree they should offer it again. I have one friend playing it who LOVES the game and I'm sure he'd jump on a lifetime.

Yeah, the current price is unfortunately out of my justifiable range at the moment. I am on board with you in hoping they do another deal.

If they offered a lifetime sub for under $250 I would buy it. My 3 month sub ends on the 8th. Hope Cryptic offers a summertime sale for lifetime subscriptions.

Sorry but think that it should not be $250 but in the $300 range. Reason being is some of us ponyed up cash at the start and should be rewarded for it.

Just my thoughts, but I sacrificed 25 rounds of .50 cal ammo to buy it :)

Yeah, but then they would have to give us rich guys the $40.00 to $60.00 back.

For a moment there i thought this was an "I Quit!" thread, and the OP was threatening to go play Second Life.

Glad i've got my facts straight.

Nope...I gotta completly disagree here. Lifetime subscriptions will only hurt (and could one day kill) STO. Bottomline "Lifers" pay a one time fee that is equal to about 20 some odd months of standard fees. After that Lifers are nothing but a pure drain on resources, never paying to help support or improve them ever again. Sooner or later, as more and more Players became Lifers, Cryptic would need to raise the standard cost of subscriptions in order to support the hordes of non-contributing Players that now use STO, as well as support any new Players they hope to attract. Add to that the fact that Lifers are notorious for behaving the most entitled, and therefore tend to be the ones that heap the most negative feedback on new potential Players, as well as make the most demands for "new and improved" content. You have a recipie for disaster. Eventually new Players would slow then stop, and as the game began to degrade under its own poorly thought out profit model existing Players would flee. Making STO death inevitable.

This may seem grim, and I know that my characterizations of Lifers is not true for all of them (but folks know what I mean), but its a horrible future I see being played out in front of me if even more Players became non-contributors and only consumers. Really if you love (or better even if you only like) STO then help support the game and its Developers, get a standard account and proudly pay your monthly fee, knowing you are helping to keep and build on what could become a legacy. Its not that much, and really even Cryptic needs cash to stay in buisness. And bear in mind with a monthly subscription if they game ever starts to bore or annoy you, you can just quit...no need to kick, scream, moan, and complain, just stop paying and your free (and if things brighten in the future you can always return).

I'll go life when I see more change, right now noway. Thats not to say they did a bad job with the game but I believe they can do much better.

I'm not going to lie, I fought and fought for a lifetime sub but in the end it's been the best decision I've made in 2010 so far. Come aboard if you can make it happen.

my subscriptions up for renewal around the same time. but unlike yourself i'm unlikely to renew it

i am actually enjoying the game, enough that i'd like to continue to play, and as such would consider paying for a lifetime subscription if the price were right.

however at this point in time, i've leveled three federation toons up to RA5 and now all i'm doing is dailies in b'tran. i was considering making a klingon (well 3 in fact) but i just can't see that the pvp aspect of their leveling interests me overly.

so with not really much to do, and forseeing how sick i'm going to be from doing daily missions, i'll probably quit for several months. hey, once i quit i might never come back. thats already happened with another MMO i've played, unless the STO devs / marketing peoples can convince me otherwise before the end of september.

I will get a LTS when Open PVP, User Generated Content and proper Voiceovers are there and the Galaxy Class actually looks like the Ship from the Show.

Then we can talk money! (i would not care if it is 200 or 300 then)

I've bought a lifetime sub, and at £220 approx; it isn't cheap.

However, you don't have to worry about paying for the game. But I do think something more useful than "Career Officer" title (on forums & ingame), Captains Table access (ingame) and combadge (ingame) should be included.

What was the point in that? Whats the point in a i quit thread on this post. Its does not fit in to this post. no more than if someone post something about... Honda Cars. It just does not belong here. I am not a crazy trek fan protecting his game. Its just a game!! Games are not your life! That said it is a game I like a lot. My first MMO. Its great and I plan to stay a bit.

I quit threads seem to me more about people who are unhappy and want others to be unhappy too. I quit and so should you! By saying I quit in a forum is petty at best. Message the makers. Call, e-mail, or what ever. Tell them whats you problem is!.

the point of the post is as an alternative view to yours

unlike you i see the game differently, i expect to be entertained in my leisure time. this game lacks depth. i'm at ra5, and have experienced the things in game that are important to me.

now where's the sandbox to keep me entertained??

should i continue to play though growing increasing bored with the lack of content, should i continue to give my $$$ to cryptic or look for alternatives.

i'm happy to pay cryptic a lifetime subscription, providing i believe its value for money. doing so now will ensure i come back to the game, even if i have a break. canceling my subscription though may never see me return.

in any event i have three months to make a decision.......and cryptic has 3 months to impress the heck out of me and/or offer a competitive deal for my $$$. :p

Check out ebay, you can buy a pen for $150 and get a free lifetime sub to STO. Not many of them left.

(Its not allowed to sell a sub but you can give it away free if you sell something else, hence the pen)
