View Full Version : Proposed ship equipment additions for future update.

Hey guys, gals and any multiple gender species from the Trek'verse.

I have an idea for the following already existing special items to make another appearance in the game at the MK X level.

First off is a quick reminder for those that did this mission long ago in their STO career.
Mission name "Past Imperfect" which you get from Admiral Quinn while you are at rank Lieutenant Commander 5.

Now, upon completion of this mission you are given the following choice of rewards.

Efficient Impulse Engines MK IV
Paratrinic Shield Array MK IV
Plasma-Disruptor Hybrid Beam Array MK IV
Electro-Plasma Dual Heavy Cannons MK IV


Now, obviously as you level up more and more after this point these items become kinda pointless to keep when you can get higher level items that have better performances.

What I would like to propose that for a future update at some point is to be able to acquire these weapons again but at the MK X level. Now, given that you only ever get the option once to get these items I'm thinking that Cryptic wanted these to be pretty special items.

My idea is that in order to keep these 4 items special they should only be available for purchase using say for example "Mark of Exploration" in that you can only do certain missions to get a small number of these daily. The cost to buy one of these very special items needs be something pretty high so that in order to get one you have to play daily for a few weeks in order to save up enough to afford them.

Also, these 4 special items should also be set as Very Rare but not have any of the bonuses that usually comes with the Very Rare title such as Accuracy and Critical Severity stats etc.

I hope I have explained myself well enough so that everyone can understand this idea and how special these very unique items have to stay. Hopefully it's something that Cryptic might one day consider adding.

I wonder if the Episode Replay feature of Season 2 will include these unique rewards, and also scale them to the players current level. Ah, Cryptic, you quite alot of work on your plate.

I'd give my left heart if i could get my hands on a Mk X Efficient Impulse Engine. The only thing that really holds me back from using using the MK IV at RA5 more often is the MK IV stats. And don't forget the Mk VI Hyper Combat Impulse Engine. No, you aren't reading that wrong. (I did many times until I finally read it in detail).

Thanks, I totally forgot about the Polarized Tetryon Dual Beam Bank, that's another pretty cool weapon that deserves a reapearance :)

I used it, successfully, in RA PvP until I got my last purple Mk X weapon and replaced it.

I was that attached to it. :rolleyes:

Just thought, there are soo many ways that this can go in terms of hybrid equipment, one such item I thought of which could be pretty cool is a Antiproton-Phaser Hybrid Beam Array

Just something else to throw into the mix :)

This is an awsome idea. I'd like to see it as a crafting upgrade option also you need the item and then use the data samples and mabey the matching mk x items to upgrade it.

I like that idea a lot, craft your own hybrid weapons. It would certainly make the crafting system more appealing rather than trading in a few data samples and hardware for a slightly better version which you can get anyway from either an NPC, loot or the Exchange.

Course said items created using the crafting system would need to be bind on pickup else you would end up with loads floating around and bring you back to the whole "Oh I won't bother doing that when I can just get it on the Exchange" problem.

Crafting... now *thats* an idea.... :cool:

Hybrid purple mk X weapons would be a very cool admiral level reward for those who invest in crafting.
It should be 'expensive' though in terms of requiring 2 green level weapons, one of each type, and 2.5 or 3 times the usual number of anomalies.
+maybe an EC fee.

I also wish we could craft blue level rarity consoles....
(I haven't seen any consoles at all so far in the R&D screens)

I had (or have somewhere) the Plasma-Disruptor Beam Array (Rare) but its stats only list the Disruptor burst and dps, not in addition to the plasma effects.

Those are the only engines I run once I get them!! Would love the chance to try out some of the other "special" equipment. I fully agree that more items like those need interspersed throughout the game... I think that would be a really easy way for Cryptic to enhance some variety (at least I would think it would be easy, but there are probably all those pesky variables...)

How about the Feds are able to craft a set variation of weapons using items common to the federation and the Klingons can craft another set variation of weapons using items common to the Klingon Empire?

That way there would be items special to the Feds and also to the Klingons. Would also make it fun for "smugglers" to trade weapons back and forth between the two factions.
