Glad I recruited 4 people to play the game and am still working on #5. *shakes head* I swear, this ship is going to go from being rare to see to being absolutely common.

Costume Pack: The Next Generation
(280 Cryptic Points)
Boldly go in uniforms inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation! With these costumes and a Galaxy-class cruiser, you'll be exploring the stars in true 1701-D style! Note: Purchase of this option unlocks these costumes for every Federation character on an account.

It's the same price as WoW's Celestial Steed.

Cryptic has probably been reading all the posts in the C-Store Exclusives threads where people claim they bought LTS's for this game and CO purely for the exclusive items, not to mention multiple copies of the game.

I mean, heck, if people were really willing to pay $270 for Mirror Universe uniforms and Liberated Borg, and $50-75 for tv series uniforms...they'll sure as hell pay $25 for a ship with a cloaking device.

Of course maybe...just maybe...those folks weren't telling the truth...

2000 for what?
It's 2,000 cps for the galaxy x. That's $25.00, which is the same price WoW charges for its unique steed.

You, sir, have an interesting definition of unique. In my dictionary, 'unique' and 'ubiquitous' are opposites.

Unique refers to the features, but you knew that. You're just looking for something to complain about today. Go for it. No one really cares. Those wishing to spend the $25.00 will. Those that aren't, won't. Simple concept really.

You can log into the game and see the item on the c-store list. If you read the info section you can see it's listed for 2000 cps.

What are you talking about? First, I don't do complaint posts. Secondly, I'm not complaining about the price. Third, I wasn't even talking about the ship, I was making fun of the retarded WoW horse.

Here, Mr. Touchy, have a hug...

Sorry, dude. I'm just tired of seeing the same complaints thread after thread simply because people don't want to accept that their hobby is someone else's business and what you do for fun they do for livelihood.

I want the X but I'm a bit thrown off by the price, even with the points that I have I'll stll need 1200 more to get the X and that will run me close to 19.00 bucks. Maybe I'll flip a coin :)

I'm still waiting to find out how we can get all these C-Store items with game effects, in game. The Galaxy X has 3 different game effects not offered anywhere else for Fed side, a lot of the species have unique game effecting traits that can't be used by other players who don't purchase them.

I'm not the one who made the promise that there won't ever be items on the C-Store with game effects, that can't be earned in game another way. They made that promise and they're the ones who have been slowly sneaking items on the shop that are far more than cosmetic and have game effects.

Bill and I have both posted over on the Champions boards to respond to questions raised by microtransactions. I'll just reiterate what's already been copied and pasted from Bill's State of the Game address on Champions:

The vast majority are aesthetic items, such as costume pieces, action figures, emblems, etc.
A very few are account-level management tools, such as being able to rename a character
Micro-transactions should never limit your ability to enjoy the game or reach the level cap
Any micro-transaction that has a game effect can also be earned in the game through play

These principles apply also to Star Trek.

BTW, I haven't been too active on these boards over the past few months. In my role, I oversee development of both Champions and STO (as well as another mystery project); a lot of focus has been on Champions as it approaches launch. But as soon as it hits shelves (Sept. 1st), I'll be turning my "lidless eye" (gratuitous geek reference) to STO. I'm even moving my office downstairs to be with the team. Craig tells me that the STO crew met that with a lot of...excitement (or fear, not sure which). So you'll be seeing my bright shining face a tad more in the days to come.

You can still earn the Galaxy-X without purchasing any C-store points. It's called the RAF program

But according to Cryptic's microtransaction principles, we'll be able to earn it through gameplay as well.

Things change. You don't have to be a business genius to see that pleasing fans who wanted the galaxy x has to come before a policy established before the game was even finished. No business lives in a static environment, espeically those businesses that deal with luxury over necessity.
