I know many people that have left the game because the pvp isn't what they expected... For me and other people I have talked to, it would be absolutely fantastic to have more realism where we can actually challenge other players in ships randomly flying by to combat (immediately if they are an enemy faction and a consensual battle "for fun" if they are friendly faction). This would be similar to the WoW system (on PvP servers) that many people enjoy about MMOs.

Even gathering large raiding parties to go into enemy territory; challenging enemy players, NPCS, and strongholds, was something that I personally loved about WoW.

-Just an opinion from numerous current and former players I have talked to...

I agree, the most fun in PvP I ever had was in Everquest in gathering a raid and going deep into enemy territory and battling over a dungeon.

And I wholeheartedly believe that its a spark that would really make PvP more like Star Trek, where not only are we battling over a planet, but the things on that planet that could enhance gameplay. Weither it's a simple factional bonus or a dungeon with some very unique item that only is available within a certain time.

This would definite PvP in it's core role in where you got a definitive purpose to win, and a reason not to let the enemy win. Which is unlike the Queued PvP where the only thing that's lost is perhaps a player's feelings.

I have advocated such a system since Beta and would really think STO would greatly benefit from such a system.

Or just target another player and type /duel and if they accept, you can PvP (1 vs. 1). Or if grouped, allow one group to challenge another group (acceptable/declinable).

It would make this game a lot more interesting and a lot less monotonous, that's for sure.
