View Full Version : Programming Inabilities

So, did Cryptic hire a bunch of programmers straight out of high school or something? I have reported the same ruddy bug for a month now and nothing has been done about it. This is as bad as the bug reporting in LOTRO. I mean, why bother? Neither company is going to fix it.

Ever since Season 2.0 came out, the level of the opponents has been ALL WRONG! I go to places like Delta Volanis or I try to clean up my old quests and can't anymore. First off, the opponents have suddenly gotten thoroughly difficult to defeat. I have always had trouble with 0 difference opponents. I buy personal shields for hundreds of thousands of credits and they are totally useless. I buy new shields for my ship and they are just as crappy as the old ones, even though the numbers for capacities and regeneration rates are higher, they don't work. AT ALL.

When I first started to play STO, I could go and do a Lt 4 quest and the enemies would be like -30 for me. I could go and do Delta Volanis and I could actually help people out in my Fleet. Now, ALL enemies are 0s for everyone. Nobody can go into the exploration missions as a team anymore. I go into Delta VOlanis, for example, in a team and try to get into the same instance as my teammates and it takes me to the same instance that is not where I need to be.

I rushed to make Admiral so that I could help the people in my Fleet and for what? Absolutely no reason whatsoever. I can't team with them and whenever I can it screws everything up for them by forcing them to fight stuff my level. An Ensign is not capable of fighting at Admiral Lower Half 5.

There have been at least half a dozen patches since 2.0 came out and none of them have fixed these issues. They all claim to, but they never do. Why are you LYING to us, Cryptic?

Another example of my issue is those silly Defend the Sector quests. I go to help someone in SIrius and we are fighting and fighting and magically the enemy jumps to Admiral Lower Half 5. Then all of a sudden they go clear up to Admiral Upper Half 3. What the heck?!

As for personal time in Delta Volanis or other low level areas, shouldn't it be our choice if we want to level as slow as a slug or as quickly as possible? This not only messes it up for people like me who actually care about helping other people, but it makes it very difficult to farm when I need to.

Please fix it.

As a side note and also a bug report... Yer staff stink at PR. I have sent messages to Mr. Stahl and your head gm directly in hopes of getting some answers on other topics but y'all never read your messages or you just don't give a crap enough to reply. I don't know which, but I am getting very disappoing in MMOs in general. This happens all the time. You make money and you forget about the people that throw their money away on your games that don't work. And when we lodge complaints, you ignore those too.

I have done my fair share of programming, I have even freelanced. I have done more than my fair share of PR and have always gotten kudos for how I handle my customers. But it seems that things have changed for the worst over the last 30 years. :(

Please fix STO before I decide to throw my money away on something better. I enjoyed Season 1.x, but Season 2 is a nightmare.

Personal touch: Btw, there's waaaay to much fighting in this so-called Star Trek game. How often does the ENterprise really go into a system to fix satellites or something AND have to fight to get to the satellites? I could understand if I were trying to fix a observation satellite in Borg or Romulan Space, but not Federation Space. Even ground combat is nuts. Ever single time I beam down to do something, I spend an hour fighting and usually die a hundred times. How often do you see Picard or Sisko beam down and instantly start fighting? I only remember a dozen or so episodes where that was the case. And usually it was a fair fight, 5 to 5 or 5 of us to 8 under-"technoliged" guys.

ALso, as far as story telling goes, there is a much better way, but no one wants to read any of my stuff, as usual. Or they don't feel I am important enough to respond to.

Well, it's nice to know that the players here are just numbers to Mr. Stahl and his staff. Thank you for confirming that, David.

I can suggest putting your game on "Normal Difficulty" level the "Elite Difficulty" on the ground is severally overpowered.

It's already on normal and everything is still above me. Lt 4=-35 levels, and yet in reality, Lt 4=0/+2/+4/+8. I witnessed it on my own screen! I have put in bug reports upon bug reports. And as usual, they have been ignored. What now?

I send PMs on other topics to your staff via the forums and they ignore me. Please, tell me, what now?

At least when I use to GM on some of the older gaming systems, I listened to my players. Really. I would spend about 2 hours a day going through player mails to the staff. Not ignoring them.
