Not sure if anyone has mentioned this idea yet, but has anyone given any thought to FigurePrints of our customized ships? I, for one, would love to pay for an accurate rendition of my current ship as a desk decoration... I mean, if a company can do WoW characters, one would think that STO ships might even be simpler?

I made this suggestion both prior to beta and in beta. I'd love to see it happen, and this is a C-store item I could really get behind!

A dev commented on this way back when. He said the kind of rapid prototyping processes figureprints use isn't doable for STO models because of the greater complexity of the models...since STO models are actually composed of lots of little pieces for customisation purposes and have much higher level of detail. Ships aren't as bad as player characters, obviously, but I'm pretty sure the dev was talking about ships as well.

I'm too lazy to dig out the link, so you'll have to take my word for it. But I have no reason to lie. Misremember, maybe. Badly paraphrase, certainly. But not lie. Granted, I'm not an expert. Feel free to pick nits in my summary of it. But that's more or less what they said.
