Visual customization is great, but it seems like most of us are running around with the same equipment and pretty close to the same abilities. It would be awesome if we could alter our ship's capabilities a bit more! Either through some sort of custom-order refitting done at a shipyard, or through more specialized items.
One neat idea would be to have "Refit Points" which can be spent on special abilities/increases/whatever on the ship hulls themselves. You could spend these points to augment the base attributes of a hull, whether that's adding consoles, weapons ports, or increasing hull hit-points. It might even make sense to allow some of the T5 retrofit special abilities available on other hulls through this system.
^ making this available to only certain ranks could make up for the lack of new ship tiers in the next 2 seasons :-)
