Meh, I never made it past the first couple of episodes of Star Blazers. I know its an older cartoon, but I just couldn't get past the cheesiness and bad animation.

The storyline does make up for the bad animation.

I heard about this a couple months ago, and am hoping they do decide to let the rest of the world see it...hehe

The best part...is that they didn't hose up the beauty of the original Yamato...or even really change the uniforms....tho I don't think they are bell bottom jumpsuits anymore...which screamed 1970s...hehe

Ok, I admit, I was a fan of the cartoon, when I saw this post I was worried about how it was going to translate to live action. I have to admit, it looks REALLY good. The ship looks great (I knew that would do ok), but I am really surprised they were able to pull off the original uniforms, I thought for sure they would look cheesy, but they're pretty good, not totally Un-Treklike in that respect.

I love subtitled anime (it's something that requires a bit of skill to learn), so as long as I can get a copy of this with subs I'll be happy, it would be nice to see an english dub, but I dunno if you'll see a mainstream one, probably just fandub's.

A dream given form... FINALLY!!

Despite the cheesiness of the 70's era animation, the overall story of the Iscandar mission was great. Grew up on this show back in the day (shows my age:) ) hopefully this one and the newest animated Yamato from last December will make here with subs sooner rather than later.

Loved that they finally added the Wave Motion Cannon shot into the trailers

That was awesome, exactly like the show. There is a trailer with english subs you can find if you poke around the tube

One thing I noticed onteh trailer was what looked like a large explosion around Bridge 3 (on the underside of the ship). I don't know about the Japanese version of the old show, but dialog in the American version had Bridge 3 being destroyed up to twice and episode sometimes. and then of course being in the next outdoor show, perfectly fine. should be interesting to see if this Yamato heals as quickly as the anime version did.
