I'm getting ready to do something awesome, and I could really use your help.
So here's the deal:
Please list your 5 favorite player authored missions, and who they were made by (Preferably, do not list your own missions). I will then do something awesome with the information you have provided me. :D
(No, I'm not telling you what the awesome I'm going to do is!)
Thanks,

Definitely Tipping Point.
Great atmosphere and pacing, with an interesting mystery.
And aliens-of-the-week that present a greater threat than the normal power blocs.
Felt like a Trek episode, with the pew-pew where it mattered.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I'd like to see the best KDF Foundry episodes "Remastered" by the devs and made part of STO's official story line.
And perhaps the warp-in text of such missions could include the authors name. For example:

While I'd love to see something like this too, I fear that there are legal issues preventing them from doing this. If I'm wrong then I hope they have at it for both KDF and Fed missions that prove to be truly excellent.

Cryptic already owns anything we create in the Foundry. And we agree to that by accepting the terms of use. So theres no way you can use the Foundry without agreeing that Cryptic owns whatever you create.

I understand that, but even in that case, there are probably legal issues with them "remastering" those missions as "professionally" done missions. While they have the rights to them, I'm not sure how far those rights really go in a case like that.
If I'm wrong that's great.

I'm probably going to sound like a whiner here, but I think this whole idea is slightly unfair. Not all the Foundry missions have been played. I've got a six part series and two episodes of another series on the Foundry and they've barely been looked at. 4 people have played the first of my six part series, 1 person has played part 3, and one person has played the first part of my second series.
All of my reviews have been 4 stars and above, but since no one else has bothered playing them it doesnt really make a difference.
I'm not trying to make my missions sound awesome or anything, but I know I'm not the only person with this complaint and I can only use myself as an example.
Sorry for the slight rant, but I would just like a fair crack of the whip as I'm sure others would. Thank you for your time.

Also, Ultima_Prime, if you haven't already, make sure to start a thread in this forum (or make a post in one of the threads already in existence) to promote your content.
Something simple is all that should be needed:

To be absolutely honest, I think this is premature.
All the current missions made by the Foundry are cookie cutter from a regular player perspective. Not because the author can't do better, I'm 100% confident that they can and they will, but because the foundry can't handle better at the moment. Because of that, every mission is a simple go there, kill X things and scan Y things and then kill some more.
The first thing I did on the foundry is that I played a mission with high marks. I played 2 Drozana weekly missions then The Extraction and I was like, "This is it? I killed x ships, y ground enemies and hit F z times. Even some Cryptic missions do better than that." Then I checked the limitations and lowered the standards. From that lowered perspective that mission is very cool and will get better with better tools.
Problem is, that most player in Holodeck won't take the time to check the limitations of the foundry. They will compare it to the complex and advanced Weekly missions. And in that comparison the foundry missions will fail.
I'd hold back until we get the triggers and the braching dialogs (and maybe the some usable building blocks).

And in this case, they are not showcase missions of the foundry anymore. They will be great fan-fics, but you can't point at them saying that "The foundry can do that!" because it can't (yet).
If the point of this promo is to add neat 3rd party fan-fics to the Holodeck, then the idea is good.
If the point of this promo is to market the Foundry, then then it is not the right time.

Actually, this isn't true.
The episodes chosen for this will be grabbed as they are on Tribble. I've contacted the authors and let them know we're grabbing them (With permission), and when, so they have a chance to check things out and make sure that they are happy with how they are represented once the transfer occurs.
The goal of this is to show off what you guys can do with the tools as they are now. Not what can happen when we get in there and muck with your designs, your story.
I've got to say, the episodes we've chosen are possibly some of the best I've seen, and they certainly rival what we've made so far, with a far more limited tool set. That's not to say that we haven't put out some very high quality episodes. Merely to say that this community is full of incredibly talented, and creative individuals.

To be absolutely honest, I think this is premature.
(snip)
I agree that there isnt alot we can have players do in our mission as of yet.
But i disagree that its premature. A good mission, IMO at least, is less defined by what you have to do for objectives (not that that isnt important) and more about the general feel you get from it, be it from NPCs idly doing something as you go past, to the ways the environments have been modified, to having stuff going on in the background that reinforces the story.
Some good examples would be in Tipping point (*spoilers*), where you beam down and walk over to a city built by Altexist, and everyone's lying about dead due to the cold. Or in my own mission Legacy of a Martyr where i've got a whole bunch of ships fighting each other in the background, and the objective is to avoid them and get away.
Its like movies. A good story is certainly a must. But the other half of movie-making is in the post-production...
EDIT: I almost forgot.
The top 3 to me are Tipping point,
Syndicate Extraction,
and The Longing.

Thanks for the congrats! It's so cool to see it on the live server and I wasn't expecting it to be the first one I saw up on there. I heard that The Longing was up at the same time too but then disappeared for a bit and came back again? I know it's up now, along with Unholy Alliances.
No, Stormshade has been working to move a few of the choice foundry missions over to Holodeck manually to give the general population an early taste of user-generated mission.
The dark side of it being the first up early taste though, is that not all people were aware of some of the limitations of the Foundry tools and open problems, such as the pathing issues ground boffs have getting around the maps and it's got hammered by people saying negative things as if I programmed the paths for the boffs myself. The general public who never ventured on to tribble aren't aware that all foundry missions are like that.
There's also people talking about the crates in the hallways they get stuck on - those are part of the pre-fabricated map and I can't take those off manually. And of course there's the rare issue where the player throws a plasma grenade or something at a group of enemies that also kills the NPC (meant to be invincible) contact they are meant to be talking to and complain about there being "missing" NPCs.
I was hoping that issues like these could have been fixed before the public got their hands on it, but I'm still honored to have been picked in the first place and given this opportunity, and the majority of reviewers so far seem to have been very kind and constructive!
Yes, but we still don't know when the Foundry toolset itself would be open to the public so that authors, like myself, could port their existing missions from Tribble to Holodeck, and not knowing worries me.

It's a diplomatic mission (omg no combat, it must suck!) but the theme of the mission and the means he uses to flesh out the story really appeal to me. I like stories with philosophical quandaries to deal with.

There are so many good missions tht I have played but my favorites so far are:
Conjoined
A Relic's Return
Evangeline
The Dissent Series.
There's one more I really like but I cna't remember the title but it's about the Klingons invading trill. ?Both my mains are joined Trill so it ws bound to pique my interest and it was really well done!

I can't name them all off the top of my head but the most memorable had to be the Raptor trilogy by Terral! Most excellent missions and well done storyline. There was enough action to keep the fighters happy and enough story to keep me happy, both my teammate at the time and I were very pleased by them and we played all three missions back to back. I can't think of two more right now though I did play an excellent one last night. HAve to look it up when I can log back in after the emergency maintance is over.

Sadly I haven't been keeping noted of what I've played. :( I'll have to start.
The one's I remember I really liked are:
To Mock a Killing Bird.
Everything from Captain_Revo
Sins of the Son (I may have gotten that title wrong)
Masters of War (I just played episode-1, part-1....incredible!!!) I think there are 3-episodes with 3 parts each.
(Destroying DS9 was great! muahahaha)
I'm going to go play ep-1, part-2 now. :D
There have been many others I like, but sadly I can't remember the names. Sorry authors.... :(

Evangeline, with Spirts of Ramak Nor being a close second but tbh only just getting into the Foundry now after its taken me an age to max out an alt!

I've only recently started playin ga lot of Foundry content; but so far I've had two really good experiences (and no really bad ones to be honest.)
Fed side was the Dissent series, which was, imo, excellent. There were a few minor quirks here and there, but still, I thought it was believable, had plenty of action but also plenty of story... basically an all around excellent series.
KDF-side, was Krios Falling - This one I can't be quite as unreservedly positive about; but on the whole it was quite good. It does however make you feel like kind of a jerk in a few places (if only we had branching story options, oh well). Also the Klingon dropship captain early in the mission... doesn't seem very Klingon.
However those are pretty small faults given the scope and general awesomeness of the mission. There are a lot of great custom environments too. If you've ever wanted to get your invasion on, this is the mission for it.
Really showing that my missions are going to have a *lot* to live up to. ... I'm OK with that.

Played a mission yesterday called 'above all else'.
excellent story driven episode with tons of detail. must have taken an age to put together. if you read all the text its slightly long but well worth playing.

I really enjoyed a few missions recently before the Foundry went down :(. These are my favorites so far.
1. Spawn of Medusa , Spawn of Medusa II, and III by Duke-of-Rock - (Actually 3 missions) Great missions with new aliens to battle and a great story, map designs, and effects. (only the first 2 are available in the community missions and playable ATM with the foundry) :(
2. First Cause, First Effect by RogueEnterprise - A cool story, maps, and effects.
3. Return to Terra Nova - by Kirkfat - Great non-combat diplomatic story and very impressive map designs.
4. Unholy Alliances I - by Soriedem - Great overall mission, battles, and story.
5. Memory Lane - by Bazag - Great story and maps.
6. Tipping Point - by Altexist - Cool story and maps. (unfortunately damaged now I think - not available)
7. Dal'Rok - by AR1973 - Cool story, maps, and effects.
8. The Syndicate Extraction - by Galactrix - Cool story and battles.
9. The Hunter and the Hunted - by Cassi-o-peia - Cool story and battles.
10. Chronotons and Klingons - by Capt.PFDennis - Cool story and battles.
Unfortunately, some of these are down at the moment with the Foundry Down. However, if you get a chance
to experience the ones still up, IMHO it is worth the effort. You will enjoy them. There are a lot more I want to play but can't at the moment because of the Foundry. Hopefully they will be back up soon. :o

An Old Flame - Zanzoi
Fire on Ice
First Cause then Effect
Rema Donna
Shards of a Mirror.
What I am wondering is when the next missions for the Old Flame mission series. Those are quite funny, as you start liking the characters quite a bit.

My all time favorite Foundry Mission so far has got to be "The Spirits of Ramok Nor".
I'm into Star Trek for the emotion. The emotion of people who put their lives on the line for planets they've never set foot on, for people they've never met. This grand future of the Federation where humanity is a wondrous force (most of the time).
So anything that explores those feelings, those emotions, deep character plots, is wonderful for me. The whole reason DS9 is one of my favorite of the series is because it had some very moving, very emotional episodes that got you thinking about the thoughts of another person, their hopes and dreams, the reasons they did what they did. No one in that show was ever totally bad, not even Gul Dukat, and it was great to see the show explain to you why.
Spirits of Ramok Nor is as good as some of DS9's best episodes, and it feels like one of them too. It explores the occupation and the wellspring of emotion and feeling behind it, and it does so in a fashion very reminiscent of the best writing of Star Trek.

Since this thread has been re-ignited, I'll give the politically-correct answer that there are MANY Foundry missions which count as my favorite.
One mission which gets overlooked, imho, is "Evangeline" by Etherghost.
I LOVE this mission!
I didn't play "Evangeline" until after I crafted my first Foundry mission. Interestingly, our styles are somewhat similar. Story-driven, dialog-infused Trek goodness about characters, their situations, overcoming difficulty and adversity in a scenario where NO other friendly starships are going to warp in and help save you.
The mission design is stellar.
More information: http://starbaseugc.com/index.php/ugcmissions/federation/evangeline/
Like most Foundry authors, I'd like to think my missions will eventually get more gameplay and better recognition. I hope missions, like "Evangeline", are enjoyed for a long, long time, too.

Gonna add on to this for great justice.
Going Viral by Pi-3Orionis for the K.D.F.
This is a really fun and solid mission with great feel to it's flow and dialog. Should get a lot more plays and probably better than third in the contest it was involved in. But, that's just my opinion.

I wish we know who said this...
But I have to agree. "The Spirits of Ramok Nor" is probably the best Foundry mission out there.
I have a Cardassian captain that I played the mission with...and I literally almost cried, experiencing his emotions at the whole thing: the grief, shame, and utter helplessness to do more to undo his people's past.

Just finished "Predetermined Coincidences" by Dewey001 and wanted to extoll it's virtues. Combines action and a good storyline with familiar elements from a couple of Trek flicks. Great mission deserving of Spotlight status. Make it so!

I just wanted to let everybody know that with the kind permission of DenizenVI, I have written and posted an adaptation of his excellent mission, "Conjoined."
For the lone Devidian serving in Starfleet, the discovery awaiting in the Gameptis system had a very special resonance indeed.

For the moment, I cannot post my favorite 5 as I only have a ONE favorite SERIES! The series is call ST: Odyssey by dariuskoronikov. This series starts with the trilogy: The Olympus Trilogy and lasts the span of 40 episodes total (including the three of the trilogy itself). This series actually gave me the final inspiration to write my own series (which is still in the works right now), and I have had communications with dariuskoronikov, who has given me his permission to use his series' characters in my own series (with a few provisoes, of course). I will let you know what the status of the series is when I am super-close to publishing the first episode (which may be a while)!
