View Full Version : Grouping Problems

While trying to do STFs with our fleet, we had a huge amount of problems being able to play as a group.
First, we noticed that you can only pick RA or VA level STFs one at a time now and not have both in your mission log. This causes issues with group members not being able to join together because one has the RA and someone else has VA. Then, if you try to drop the mission and get the other you end up with the 20+ hour cooldown!
Second, you used to be able to pull the group members with you into a STF (at times, we do not care if we get any credit for the mission, we just want to help out a fleet member by filling in an empty spot and have fun). This again is now gone. Sometimes, members are in the middle or end of an STF and just needs help finishing, now you can't. Everyone has to have the same mission and start from the same spots.
We started out doing Infected, the gate got bugged at the beginning (a probe got stuck in it and we could not destroy it). A few didn't want to start again, so we decided to do the Cure; nope, because of the afore mentioned issues. On to Khitomer Accord; nope, a few of the new VA's didn't do Cure yet.
This caused so many problems, we ended up doing Terradome (which we did not relish because of the problems and time it takes). But, it was the only STF that 5 members in the fleet had available as a new mission that were able to group together. And, you guessed it, the end boss fight bugged and we could not complete it anyway. By this time, everyone just did not want to go back and start from the "Where's Sulu?" part after all that work. In the end, the great evening we had planed to do STFs ended up in none.
So, Devs: Can you please put grouping back the way it was? This is just discouraging even more group play that STO already has a negative stigma with.

No comment yet Devs? This is annoying my whole fleet now.

He is right about this. Some people are about to give up on the game because of this. We lifers do not have that option, but it is going to make it hard for us to encourage new members to join in good faith. Please fix this. It is a real challenge for us to get a full group to do STFs now as the experience is less than satisfactory. So please at least make it easier for us to do missions together when we can get five people willing to risk the bugs. I would be fine with an option to join without XP or whatever restrictions you deem fair. For your own future success, solve this problem.

Thank God i was not holding my breath while waiting for the reply. One wonders how economically viable the game would be if we were as refrained when it comes to spending $$$ on memberships and in the C-store...

Hello Devs! Will this ever be addressed. Looking through the forums, others are finding this problem too. Can we please get a comment on this. Right now, it is really hampering teaming.

Again we did another quick fleet run for the Cure. Same old grouping problems. Either the massive cooldown hit someone for just dropping a mission they never started, or the other favorite, some had the STF from a different spot and could not start at the beginning or get "pulled" into it.
AND, still no word from the Devs. Can we please just have grouping for STFs go back to the way it was?!

Come on fellow Captains! Show some solidarity getting this bug fixed. ;)
All we want is grouping functionality back. Devs, why did you kill the ability to have groups be able to play anything at any time? This has really hampered group play with our fleet. This is suppose to be an MMO, not just a RPG. Bugging out the way we used to group is just pouring gas on the poor cooperative play reputation that STO is getting. We want to group, so let us please.

Sad that they don't have the courtesy to respond.

We have trouble sometimes finding a time when we can play with specific fleet friends. It would be VERY nice if grouping could be sorted out. This REALLY is in your best interest cryptic as it will keep morale up and make it easier for us to keep people interested in the game and to attract new paying subscribers, oops, i mean players....

This bug needs a catchy name! How about: "Teamgate?" Or, "Grouping got the nerf bat . . . gate?" Or, hmmm, how about "Devs are mum on messing up a game mechanic that worked perfectly?" :p
I'm going to go with the squeaky wheel gets the oil on this. Come on Cryptic Overlords, can we get this fixed already? Or at the minimum, some comment on it? Thanks.

As my post title says i completely agree that the STF's need work and so does cryptic . but to be fair posting 12 or so time isnt going to make the devs respond or fix the issue any quicker to be nonest you might end up getting a ban for spamming or what ever. So yes i agree fixes are needed but i don't thing you need to make a post saying you are waiting....still waiting....waiting some more...oh holy hell its christmas

STF's aren't the only grouping issues....ALL teaming is jacked. HORRIBLY. See my post in Starfellt Acedemy. Sad thing is, I don't think it's a bug.

The thing is, it used to work properly. It was one of the recent patches that killed it.

Heck, I'll risk a ban if my voice is heard. Cryptic claims that it listens to the community.

Koios is speaking for our whole fleet. He is receiving spams from us, especially verbal ones on t.s. all the time. This is a huge problem for us as it demoralizes our active players. Two have already canceled their accounts and this was a contributing factor. This will cost STO money if it is not addressed. Once people level up a toon or two to V.A. it is the social aspect that keeps most of the people we play with interested. When you have invested as much as we have with life accounts, regular accounts, c-store purchases it is not unreasonable to expect an acknowledgement from the powers that be, even if it is nothing more than "we have read what you are saying but have no time to fix it anytime soon if ever."
