View Full Version : Several D'Kyr texture issues

I want to bring up several bugs with the D'Kyr that have been around since it was on TRIBBLE, and they still haven't been corrected. There are several threads on this topic, but they usually disappear so fast that they never get seen.

The Reman shields, Borg set, and Aegis set are all missing textures when equipped on the D'Kyr. Instead of the texture being applied to the large warp ring of the main ship, they are being applied to the docked support ship.
Example 1 (http://i.imgur.com/rGD88.jpg): The warp ring of the support ship is glowing around the edges, where it should be applied to the main warp ring.
Example 2 (http://i.imgur.com/z92cx.jpg): The Reman shields should make the warp ring turquoise, but instead makes the support craft's warp ring turquoise, leaving the main warp ring the same blue color.

I don't have a pic of the borg gear, but the same thing happens when the full set is equipped; The main warp ring remains blue while the support ship turns green. I will note that the main deflector does change colors, so that part works.

Another issue is the transwarp animation sequence. When you're in sector space and hit a transwarp power, the aft, port quarter of the ship starts glowing. This is very strange looking...it should at least be moved up and centered so it glows in the middle of the warp ring, not off to the side of the ship.

And, while you're at it, can you fix the docking animation? It looks like my warp nacelle-ring needs some WD-40, as it keeps getting stuck, and then snapping into place.

This may be a lot to ask but it would also be cool if the Borg engine's addition to the warp system was actualy on the warp ring instead of a little tinny thing thats added on the engine. ( not referring to the engine peice that emits a green trail but the other peice that the Borg engine adds).

I understand this posses problems because of animation of the ring but just a suggestion.

I also have experienced the lack of changes to the ring texturing thow this is probably because the automated system docent know how to modify the textures of the animated object but I'm not sure since it works fine on the intrepid's moving nacelles.

The D'Kyr's "warp ring" is untouched in all three of the texture variants that come with the sets. The Borg shield, the Aegis shield, and the Reman shield visuals all have this issue. For the first two I wasn't upset about this, but for the Reman shield it's very annoying. With the actual hull being the dark turquoise and the warp ring being the rusty red, it does not look good at all.

I love the Reman set but it would be nice to have the textures of the ring and the hull actually match, especially since I did pay extra for this particular ship. ;) I'd like the D'kyr to actually have a uniform look when using the other sets as well.

I have found that the "stuck ring" issue is only around when I have the Aegis, Borg or Reman shield visuals on. Also, the first day that the Reman set was out I did notice a lot of "bouncing" with the animations; the ring kept rotating for no reason, and locking into the wrong position (and repeating the "bouncing") when the Tal'kyr was launched, as well as seeing multiple BoP wing animations cycling while the Reman set was on their ships while I played on my Klingon character. I haven't seen this particular issue since, so it may have simply been a glitch on my end.

I've had the stuck ring animation happen whether I'm using a special shield or not...

I didn't notice that the ring stayed rust red though :o that's not cool. I think the reason why they left it as is must have been because in order to getthe docking animation to work correctly (which the launching sequence does, but the docking does not) they probably had to have the ring be a static texture or it would be really hard to program. But I mean seriously, they should have worked all these problems out when it was on tribble.

Guys, I'm gonna submit a bug report on this as I haven't yet, and I recommend you do the same. That way, at least it's "official" and all. I really want this bug resolved.

Personally, I like the ring not changing color. How do we know that this isn't by design? Has a dev come in and said it was a bug?

I use the reman shield and the different color of the warp ring makes it stand out to me. I vote they leave it alone.

In the OP I read "where it should be applied to the main warp ring". How do you know it should? It doesn't say anywhere that it should. It could, in fact, be as it should already.

The way the ring is designed is that it isn't actually a part of the ship, it's an object place over the ship that animates. That means that anything which changes the color, style or design of the main ship won't affect the ring. I'm sure it COULD be changed so it does change with the main ship, but it's a design decision that it doesn't currently.

I'd like to ask that my D'Kyr be left alone. I like it as it is, which is why I bought it.
