Using the XBOX 360 Controller

I just recently decided to try and see if I could use my XBOX controller in STO, I all ready knew it was supported I was just not sure if my computer could do it. So I looked around and found out that all I had to do was plug the thing in. Which I did, and it works.

But now what?

I went in game and found that I was able to steer my ship, but could not figure out how to do anything else. So I am asking here, what all can I do with my XBOX controller. Can I keybind anything too it? If so, how?

My main motivation behind trying to play STO with the XBOX controller is because I would like to be able to steer with one thumb-stick and control the camera with the other, with anything else simply being gravy.

So any and all information would be much appreciated.

All you have to do is go to the opions [ esc ] and go to controls. Think of your controler thumb sticks as joy sticks right and left . And asign the right joy stick fuction to it. It gets tricky for the x,y,a,b, buttons that one I can not remember that well. I use it some times, its quit fun and hard to control. But in time you can use your key board and controler. For me I just use the key board most of the time. I hope this helps anyone out there.

there's also a nice post about keybinds in the UI forums here on the site. If you've seen any of my other posts, you'll know I'm all about the 360 controller for ground comnbat. With the right keybinds, you're going to have a ball!

You will need make keybinds file. It is awesome, takes a little to get used to but the ability to make combo binds make the controller very versatile, I use mine for space PvP only right now and it is amazing that I can bind everything to the controller.
