I still have my 1007 numbered version of that game in the original box, with the weird little holographic badge. :D

I had wondered if something like this was even possible to do. I hope you spent some serious time making it look and feel like the 1995 game, for I will be trying and reviewing it.

Well keep in mind this is based off my movie script. wich is based off the game. so there's a bit of a twist to the story. But overall it has to be different from the 1995 game.

I was about to say: wouldn't you run into EULA/copyright issues?

I can understand that, however I find it hard to believe you could adapt such a long story and make it into an entire foundry mission in the short time the foundry has been live without greatly simplifying it.

I expected some of the races would be different in order not to violate copyright - the Remans for example could be used instead of the Garidians. But I hope the mission really preserves the spirit of A Final Unity.

just played it...

first let me say i loved A Final Unity back in the day, still have the box in my shelf!

well here is my review:

- first i am not sure if it is allowed to use "Vash" (if that is supposed to be the TNG character? i think so, not sure), and i also would rename the Garidians just to be on the safe side.

- An there sum TYPOS!
Serious Spellcheck needed dood!

- When my Captain spoke with the Garidian Ship it displayed my Tac Officer (maybe foundry limitation, dont know, but a little confusing in any case to see my Tac speaking like he was the captain... hey thats my job!).

- i had a problem with 2 triggers, first the 2 Federation ships warp in out of sensor range i had to blindly fly arround the map and found them by luck (did not see them on the map until after i was in range), you may want them to warp in nearer to the player.
And... i don't realy understand why i would scan the admirals Fishtank ... it said so in the questlog and the thing was blinking, but there was no real indication storywise why i would even do that.

- there was a lot of walking on the last Map with that uuh.. Reservoir (?),
Walking != fun, rule of thumb: if it takes longer then 1 full sprint it starts to be annoying. plz don't make me run from the top to the lower end of the map only to get told to run to the right side of the map... *gnaaah*

- then the mission just stopped, so... is this mission not finished yet? part 1 or something?

...it was a good start but keep working on it, you're getting there!

This.

My first Foundry mission on Tribble was a bit of an homage to A Final Unity, in that it featured the Garidians. After reading the Terms of Use I was convinced we weren't allowed to use content from ST:AFU, so I worked on a different story instead.

-- Tosh is the name of the person in the runabout.

- An there sum TYPOS!
Serious Spellcheck needed dood!

--- Can you point any out. i went through the misson 3 times. im sure i must have missed something.

- When my Captain spoke with the Garidian Ship it displayed my Tac Officer (maybe foundry limitation, dont know, but a little confusing in any case to see my Tac speaking like he was the captain... hey thats my job!).

--- Pure limitation of the foundry. There is no speach box for the captain. SO your bridge officers will have to do.

- i had a problem with 2 triggers, first the 2 Federation ships warp in out of sensor range i had to blindly fly arround the map and found them by luck (did not see them on the map until after i was in range), you may want them to warp in nearer to the player.

-- Did you check your map. Because the area your supposed goto for the federation partol ships is clearly marked with a circle. Also i had to get the player away from the Warbird & runabout... Because i don't think there is a way to remove them or warp them out. SO there out of sight when your on the other side of the map. Out of sight out of mind... As for the fish tank... it was a gift to look after from someone who's a friend of his. And it was to build on Na'topia's richness of animal / fish / plant life.

--- There was ALOT of walking in STTNG : A FUNAL UNITY.... It's an ADVENTURE game. the combat comes later..on.

- then the mission just stopped, so... is this mission not finished yet? part 1 or something?

--- Did you not see it clearly says PART 1

...it was a good start but keep working on it, you're getting there!

--- Thanks for your review. I spend 3 1/2 full days working on this mission creating 10 maps. But i don't have a full production team looking over my shoulders spell checking every word. But Thank you for playing it.

shouldnt this be moved to the correct section of the forum?

One of my first ideas was to see what the Garidians are doing in the modern era of STO. I quickly dropped it upon realizing that that would totally breach EULA and I would get in a ton of trouble.

Must be in Beta as it's not in search for Holodeck.

Why would someone make a mission in Beta when Foundry is live?

That's what I was wondering. I've looked through the Holodeck list twice and can't see it.

If you have the mission text in a text file i would be happy to look over it for you.

- I've seen a lot "an" instead of "and" (as if your "d"-key was broken),
- you make no diffrence between they're / there / their
and some various typos i don't remember right now...

(i usually dont care about a few typos here and there, i make enough myself, but to be honest the amount in your mission was a little high to not say anything about it)

**

i can see the time you've spend on the mission that is why i wanted to give you a full honest review with proper feedback.
But as i said, keep on it, this will be a good one if you can ever finish it ^^

Here's one tip: Instead of using a Bridge Officer for the Captain's speech, consider using a ship costume. That might still be somewhat confusing (why is my ship talking), but at least it removes the confusion why your BO is saying your lines.

Unfortuantely so far, I always wonder why the BOs are saying so much in Cryptic-generated missions, and why I only get one sentence replies. That problem is not your fault, but entirely Cryptic's.

Ideally you should use short, generic text for player captain's dialogue. Let players choose the *intent* and meaning of their response, but with the current tools it's best to leave the actual words to their imagination.
