Want to keep the look of your ship and still enable those nice new modules you have collected? (ie. Reman Prototype Covariant Shield Array, Borg Assimilated Modules, etc)

Well you can!

In the Status display of your ship where you can drag/drop consoles, weapons, etc - install the new console, device, etc to your ship and then just right click on it. This gives you the option to "ENABLE VISUALS" or "DISABLE VISUALS" of that individual item.

This wasn't as obvious to me as it should have been so I thought I would post this information so others who may have missed this in a tutorial or have just returned to the game know..

I notice a lot of borg looking ships out there, and while some people like them, others may not, and might think like I did that if you wanted your ship to look like you originally designed it - you had to remove the device, etc.

Just an FYI

Happy STOing!

Same can be done for kits and body armor ;)

Yeah, I definately do that with body armor. As a matter of fact, I have exactly ONE Captain who enables the visuals for her body armor, because she's Tactical, and wanted to show off that she's wearing armor.

Some of the high level kits, too, have become so garish I have to turn them off. I with they had a "Enable Visuals", "Diable Visuals" and then "Minimum Visuals", so there would be an option to have a simpler kit, more like a lower level, and maybe just a vest instead of full armor. Or maybe have the armor UNDER your costume. (Like an Open Jacket option)

Damn, You beat me to it. You can do both at once if you are on ground, just Right Click your toon.

I thought this thread was about a way to keep the looks without equipping the console. :(

Yeah, I do this on ships were the mods look awful.

Whooooaaaaa!!!! I am totally going to try that! I had no idea. Nice work!

Can you right click your ship in space for the same thing? That would be way cool and much easier than going into the status window...

Really? I thought the visual effects of the Aegis set is cool.

The Reman shield? Not that much.

Borg set? Creepy.

I wonder how many players actually look at their body armor. Cryptic should have server statistics on that.

Ther eis probably a reason we have yet to get a "cool, unique-looking" armor item in this game.

No, I don't think the mods themselves look awful, but they do look awful on certain ships. So on those ships I turn them off. Other ships, I rather like how they look and leave them on. Honestly if I had a way to display certain effects on different ships without having the console equipped I would do it.

If they redesigned armor to look like something other than skin-tight, liquid-metal vomit more people would probably turn on the visuals.

Yup, forgot to mention ground gear.. actually that was also unclear to me back when i started, should be in a tutorial if it isnt already.. perhaps missiokn at startfleet academy whenever that shows up :-) a how to customize your gear looks, etc :-)

I do like the option to turn things on or off, the more customization options the better in my book, as long as its easy to do and new people are made aware of the features.. im loving the new stuff being implemented!
