View Full Version : My Excelsior can't use transwarp gates!

Hey everyone - so I've noticed that now, twice, my Excelsior (I'm Rear Admiral, Upper Half Level 1) cannot activate transwarp gates. I'm talking specifically about the one to Gamma Orionis AND the one in the "Parrallel Intersections" Foundry episode (which really looks like it's a good episode - I want to continue it!).
Does anyone know what's going on? Has anyone else had the same problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, all. I hope this isn't happening to anyone else!

It shouldn't have anything to do with your excelsior. I think RAUH should be enough to use the transwarp gate to Gamma Orionis. Fly close to it, a button for the map transfer option should appear.

The Parallel Intersections episode is
a) awesome
b) using a regular gate prop which just is like any other object in a foundry mission. The (amazing) effects and map transfers are using regular interact buttons and SFX options. If you can't trigger them, you might try getting some distance and then flying back towards it, see if some kind of reach trigger did not trigger that would enable the dialog options.

may be a problem with the cooldown on transwarp abilities somhow hindering you to use those map transfers as well. or sth completely different. ever tried to mapchange in another ship? if it only occurrs with the excelsior than its something wrong with it.

You actually have to fly a bit past the gate in the mission (best mission in the game IMO) to get it to work. As for the gamma orionis... should pop up dialogue if your rank is RA LH 3 or higher.

also
/obligatory lol @ excelsior unable to transwarp

No, there is normally no relation between the normal transwarp to ESD (and other locations when using the Excelsior or your Ambassador rights) and the transwarp gates.

Like the man said you must be RALH 3 to unlock Gamma Orionis and RALH 5 to unlock the Borg and STF missions.

and he's RAUH 1, which is above either of those and he's having the problem.

Hi! I had the same problem last night with one of my char but i fixed it!

Maybe it is the same for you but i had forgotten to call Admiral and get Borg mission before clicking on Transwarp!

The Transwarp wont activate unless you get the mission from the Admiral on your current assignments.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone. It's kind of frustrating - I might have to switch ships, which would be unfortunate, because I really like the Excelsior.

It's not the ship, I assure you. Have you contacted Admiral Quinn and accepted the "Report to Gamma Orionis" mission? If you haven't done that, you can't actually use the gate. I ran into the same problem on my third or fourth admiral... completely forgot to accept that mission and ended up totally freaking out for a few minutes when I couldn't use the gate..

Yes! That exactly! I always forget that thing haha. That is the issue i got 2 nights ago. You really need to get "Report to Gamma Orionis" mission from Admiral Quinn or the Transwarp thingy in Sirius sector will not give you the option to go in.

I tried activating it when i was Lower Half 4 and since i was not getting any interaction i thought i needed be Lower Half 5 :( But no... Just needed to call the Admiral Quinn first. Thats the thing.

It looks like you were right - one MUST accept the "Go to Gamma Orionis" mission from Admiral Quinn in order to be able to use the transwarp gates. It would have been nice if Captain James Kurland had contacted me about it!

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Hopefully this helps other people, too.

I had the same issue with my Klingon General. Then I looked through my available missions and there it was. Glad you figured it out. :)

Haha, Captain Kurland really isn't my favorite. He's kinda "short" with you - and when you finish his missions, he doesn't say anything to you! You wanna point me in the right direction, Kurland? How 'bout "thanks for letting me boss you around even though you outrank me!"

If I really was an admiral, I would find a more capable, cordial, and otherwise interesting captain for such an important station as the commander of DS9.
