Not really sure where to put this and i have know idea how it will get to the right people, but....here goes.

My Tactical officer just made RAL. I leveled him in a cruisar but now want to run him in an escort. I choose the fleet escort. My engineer used one for awhile and I like the feel of it. Although, i have a MVAM for when he makes VA.

Anyway, my question is about attack patterns? I am used to chaining engineerin abilities to stay alive. Do tacs do it that way? My buddy swears by APB. I was thinking about ATO. It sounds like it has more benefits.

Survivability is my main goal. DPS is secondary. Not trying to set any records, lol!

Thanks guys.

The Reman BO is great for survivability if your talking the MVAE (retrofit). He comes with

Hazard Emitters - great hull healer
Science Team II - great shield healer
Transfer Shield Strength III - good for playing keep away, but this can be switched for something else

I use Beta 1, Omega 1, and delta 3 and I do ok. I honestly don't really know the numbers though.

If you want to go for anything but damage don't take an Escort. They're build for just that. They're fast, maneuverable, squishy and don't have many Eng slots. Escorts do one thing well: shoot the enemy before he shoots you and if you try to go for anything else you'll probably be slaughtered for your trouble.

Well thats what everybody says but than i run into these escorts in pvp that can take a hit. And thats all I want to do. Get that extra second to high tale it to higher ground, or at least 10 km of space, lol

I am finding that 2xTT1 and 2xEPS1 is pretty effective. But I am a long way from done.

Many that take a hit are also able to get out of doge quickly. I'd recommend:

Eng:

Engineering Team
RSP

Sci:

Polarize Hull
Hazard Emitters

That leaves the non-tactical ensign slot to your discretion, dpending on whether you're a Fleet or Advanced Escort (or nothing, if you're a tactical escort retrofit).

For the ensign slot, I'd go with either Jam sensors (use on nearby ships in a pack) or EPtE (for a nice getaway boost).

Stock up on engine batteries and have engine power levels fairly high (weapons are still your friend).

I fly the defiant retrofit i can tank pretty well with tac team, EPtS, RSP and shields batteries. Once the shields are down and im all out of shield power attack pattern delta, and omega can get me out of trouble with haz emitters and sci team.
