Orion Class Battle Support Ship

Hey,

Michael206 here. Just wanted to introduce the Orion class battle support ship. This is a very small ship, but can pack a lot of punch. Equipped with 6 phaser arrays, 1 internal dual phaser beam bank, 2 photonic cannons, and neural interfaced drone torpedoes. Oh, and 6 phaser turrets and 4 torpedo launchers. It carries 2 type 8 shuttles for evac. There is only 3 full decks and 1 half deck. Since the Orion is very small, it is very maneuverable and versatile. The Orion can dock on a larger ship on a landing/clamping pad and can also be stored inside of a starliner's lower hull. For this to happen, two large retracters attach to the Orion, then the retracters pull the support ship in to the lower hull in a sort of garage. In the Oasis class starliner, 2 Orions can be stored in the lower hull.

How many ponies does it house?

it seems to have the fire-power of a sovereign class ship with all those phaser arrays and turrets and things. it sounds a little too powerful for its size.

Well, it needs some tweaking, granted, but it is supposed to be able to defend an entire starliner, http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k511/mfontaine100/SCAN0052.jpg against a raid of more powerful ships such as a Klingon battlecruiser or borg cube. These would also be pets to a starliner captain. If you were in a deepspace encounter while on a route, you could deploy your battle support ships. Also, the federation is losing it's war with the borg and at a stalemate with the klingons. The federation needs something easy to build, maneuverable and that packs a powerful punch. The whole design was derived from the lantean aurora class battlecruiser (stargate atlantis).

If you want to make some adjustments to it, just copy it, print it, do your changes and then scan it back on.

You could probably squeeze all of Applousa and a half ponyville in there.
