I like the background in this one much better. That asteroid in the lower righthand corner has a lot of great detail. Good show my good man.

But yeah, some Klingon bones would be nice. Maybe with a STO logo that isn't SF, but actually have the Klingon logo as well with a more red theme than blue...

I have mixed feelings about a STO symbol that was not the normal star trek one. Im not sure if i would call it a start fleet symbol in the first place...their emblem is the olive branch surrounding a star filled globe. The symbol IS on their communicators though...but it's more of a Star Trek symbol, not a Star Fleet one.

Perhaps just making it more red for the Klingon pages ...and additionally have the klingon symbol ?

It's tricky. It's similar to the 'where no man has gone before' ...do they mean male, or Mankind (including females)... i guess from my perspective a Klingon symbol representing startrek online is weird. ... kinda like if they changed the saying to 'where no woman has gone before'. <- that doesn't really solve the issue either.

Agreed. You can tell they just slapped it on there. The shading is totally different between the ship and the asteroids.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though-- maybe they don't have those ships rendered just yet.

In champions online they have the ability to show two different themed front pages with the same info of course but different backgrounds. One for the Heroes (http://www.champions-online.com/)and one for the Villains (http://www.champions-online.com/?theme=destroyer). Maybe they should make something like that for STO one Star Fleet theme and one Klingon theme homepages, maybe even once you go to startrekonline.com a window comes up and asks you to "choose a side" were you pick which them front page is going to be displayed. Or not, just a thought.

They look better if you strip out the black and then blue console borders (but that requires stretchin). This wouldn't be a huge problem except that almost no other games wallpapers have a border, and with shuffle enabled it looks like you've centred a wallpaper that is too small.

And I agree. Some non federation ships would be cool.

The ships detail is nice,but I have trouble caring about the design. I'd rather see a fresh new Starfleet design or (even better) a Klingon ship.
Still,I'm happy with any update.

I did notice the corners of this wallpaper had an almost "lightning" like effect. I hope this is just part of a nebula or a spacial effect which coincidentally looks like the time travel lightning from Nero's ship,but is otherwise unrelated.

As for what end is in front, it seems the right end is the front, the orb in the back the command section, so the ship is flying from left to right.

We have a few screenshots and a couple wallpapers, I think, that have a federation ship facing in the opposite direction so it kinda leaves it open for what end is forward, particularly with a lack of noticeable nacelles. I for one want the sphere to be the front end.

This vessel for some unknown reason produces thoughts of Alien Ressurection to me. I just imagine a derlict craft floating out there somewhere with a whole host of hostile creatures running amok on board. Just waiting for my lowly inexperience crew to say "hey Sir, lets go beam aboard that thing and find out what she's really carrying"....

I don't know what's worse, a giant liquid ball that allows me to think up my own worst nightmare, a black-hole engine that will send me to hell, or a bunch of ant-like aliens that have acid for blood, incubate in your stomach, and have a second set of teeth on a spring loaded tongue that will make my head explode. I think I'll just take a swirve from all of it. No thanks.
