View Full Version : Cloak still bugged

Did distress signal and transport attack on my klignon yest. There is absolutely no reason why a received message would knock a ship out of cloak. Coincidently in distress signal right before the end fight the message did not pop me out of cloak. But in the transport attack the second federation reenforcement message did. I would really like to see this fixed before the borg encounters, I m sure there will be plenty of messages there.

Believe me the Cloak isnt fixed yet. O wait you already knew that. Croptic isnt going to do anything about it anytime soon. And i am VERY, VERY disappointed they stated it as being fixed since Season 4, and it really is not.

So I can only conclude one thing:

1. They just plainly lied to us.

2. They did a bad job at listening to to us, the community that it is undesirable to get dropped out of cloak with every small Window or text on the screen.

I just hope it was the latter.
I think its a bad idea on its own to somehow bind a cloak interaction windows or triggers at all. Standard this should be programmed NOT to interfere with the cloak (Why is this even directly related to it?) unless the mission absolutely requires it (So that you could additionally make this trigger). I mean, as what we can understand they had to complete go over ALL the missions to 'fix' this particular problem. Well' id say this particular thing is flawed.

Especially in zones like kerrat its just plain crap.

3) They botched the cloak so bad they are unable to actually fix it ANY time soon. When they do try to fix it they have made even more problems.

They know its a problem, it sucks....the only thing you can do is point and laugh.

Bwahahahaha!!:D

I only comment because I read that it was fixed. Sadly it is not. I do try to be patient but the cloak is a fundamental Klingon tactic, not to mention a primary tactical advantage. Plus I only tried those two pve maps so far. Will check out the rest this week and also check the defiant refit but I don't expect it to be any different.

I tested the Alhena Daily, and the Ferengi is constantly forcing me to decloak as well. So if - and I really just say _if_ - the tech fix is already there, they didn't have any of the missions actually use it.

Of course, the way the bugfix was formulated, it was:
"We have the tech to do it, but it'S the author's decision whether he wants to decloak you". So maybe we just have to blame the mission designer?

If the message of the other NPC doesn't read: "Hah, I see right where you are", I don't think it's justified. THe only other reason I see, and find more likely, is that for technical reasons the player must be visible, and if only so he can't avoid a battle or something like that. But even that I don't see in the cases I've played.

I can understand that if foundry users which made a missions and they wanted to decloak you per-se, it could be made possible. But for normal missions and especially kerrat or other vital areas where you'd rather stay cloaked, its just weird. Shouldnt happen. Cloak shouldnt standardly bound to interaction windows, which really looks like it.

If they would fix kerrat it would probably avoid alot of complaints. Dont tell me this is hours of work. Still all should be fixed imo.

May very well be hours of work to fix, but lets not forget that this particularly irritating and to some major bug has been around for quite some time.

I can understand there are bugs, QA is working on fixing them, and so on but the thing that really gets me is when they say we have one thing (60 degree flight angles, fixed cloak, etc.) and a few minutes of playtesting shows its just plain not true that its fixed.

Oh its not broken any more.

Since they didnt manage to fix it they decidet to declare it "Intentional" and now its nothing to fix there.

Of course it sucks. I'm prety disapoitntet at this, too. Whats the purpose of a cloak if it drops beyond my control?

I saw it not de-cloak me for the first time ever the other day. I was doing a Klink PvE mission while leveling my SciBoP ("2nd Star to the Right..."), and the Lethean station commander in Alhena comm'ed me and I didn't de-cloak. But, later in the mission he talked to me again and I did de-cloak (probably at Mars). Incredibly inconsistent there.

So, that's one place where they actually fixed it....at certain time frames anyway, lol.

Kerrat is the main place that's needed to be fixed, but instead they've decided to ignore it....

If they truly have to make fixes on a map-by-map setting, then they should really just fix the 5 space PvP maps -- the one space warzone, the one capture and hold, and the three arenas. I think we can live with decloaking in PvE.

hey guys let me tell you about a little secret!

they have done it once before, the Excelsior class was supposed to purchasable with the free promotion token we all get when you reach the next rank at commander, and they stated that this was intended to be the case, so players can play with the ship at rank without grinding for the 100,000 energy credits.

the patch notes for the month following its launch quoted this to be fixed, however, you still cant actually do so. and since then they refuse to admit that it is still broken.

they are not trying to lie to us, they aren't ignoring us, they simply are delusional and refuse to acknowledge that the problem exists. See if the patch notes state so, than it must be fixed right, just ask one, they will tell you so.

just don't expect them to actually fix it.

I'm really not sure where you're getting this -- I've never heard that the Tier 3 Excelsior (or Nebula) would be available with the ship plaque. It doesn't even make sense considering these are "Advanced" versions of their ship (kind of the original Tier 3.5 if you will) and that they were always meant as energy credits only. Why would you fly a "Heavy Cruiser" if you could fly an "Advanced Heavy Cruiser" for the same price?

The August 26, 2010 (http://www.startrekonline.com/node/2041) patch notes, which I believe introduces the T3 Excelsior, just states "The Classic Excelsior (Commander Rank) can now be purchased for Energy Credits in Ship Requisitions."
