I have to admit, when I first heard that STO was bought by PWI, I was excited. I really liked PWI's cash shop model. The more I read though makes me far less hopeful that it'll be even close.

The big stir, lately, seems to be over this dilithium business and them able to use it as a way to govern the amount of currency that a given player can make in a day. I personally don't know, nor do I really care since I've quit actively playing, at least for awhile.

I'd like to point out to Cryptic and to PWI that the ease of currency generation, while maybe not intentional, has been one of the best insurance policies against violation of the EULA. Who here remembers the opening weeks where gold sellers were spamming in chats everywhere? It lasted until about the 6'th week when people realized that it was too easy to level yourself and to generate currency to give workers at a chinese sweat shop a reason to work.

Perhaps PWI has silent interest in a few of these sweat shops, but unless they do, I think it would be a poor business decision to try to limit currency and levelling. I really hated having to spam 'ignore' and I'm sure many others will too.

How much a player can earn per day has nothing to do with the gold farming issue, because refined DL cannot be traded from player to player except for in exchange for C-points. The way gold farming works is you go to the farmers website, pay them X amount of money, then they either tip you the in game currency or meet up with you and give it to you in game. This will not be possible with DL. To repeat, it can only be traded to other players for C-points. There is no trade that can take place without C-points being traded as well.
