View Full Version : PVP Sci Build?

So I am quickly approaching VA, and have been contemplating starting building a bit more for PVP. While my PvE strategies are tried and tested, I have yet to try PVP at all. And I have a feeling that my Boffs and build may not be exactly effective in a PVP setting.

I often hear that Science Officers are among the biggest pains in PVP, due to our many control abilities.

So what skills/Boff powers should I be focusing on? I have a few ideas, but I'd like to hear from some of the more experienced officers who may be able to throw a few tips my way to help me get my build started.

Key science control powers:

Scramble Sensors
Charged Particle Burst
Tachyon Beam
Photonic Shockwave
Gravity Well


Key Buffs and Heals (for any ship):
Emergency Power to Shields. Take it twice to get 100 % uptime with great shield resists.
Transfer SHield Strength
Hazerd Emitters
Science Team (to deal with Science Debuffs)

Great Utility Powers:
Polarize Hull
Tractor Beam

You can't have them all, obviously.
I think the best strategy is to select an ensemble of the 3 key control powers as your Lt.Cmdr and Cmdr science skills, and fill the lower ranks with the buffs and heals you want, and some utility powers.

You should definitely have the two EPtS, though.

Having a decent build is just the start .Next step is figuring out how to use it effectively in a team environment. It will help greatly to join like-minded PvPers for that and queue up with them to gain experience playing together.
