We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.16.20111119a.18
General:
Updated Astrometric Duty Officer active roster bonus and the Tier 3 Excelsior Transwarp Coil passive bonus to properly reduce the cooldown for Transwarp abilities.
Updated the diplomacy bonus accolades to explain the "emeritus" status, that is, bonus rewards for people who completed the diplomacy tiers before Season 5 launched.
Characters who existed before the update to Season 5 will now receive the new Duty Officers they would have obtained by leveling up.
The Defiant Retrofit, Galaxy Retrofit, Intrepid Retrofit, Nebula Refit, and B’rel Retrofit can now be reclaimed if you discharge them.

Does this apply to all of them or only ones bought in the C-Store? Or, if purchased with a token can we also delete and reclaim now?
Also, any word on getting the 600 day veteran reward VA ship token actually added to the game?

Does this mean when this goes to holodeck that I'll be able to claim the C-Store ships I bought on my alts?
Over the weekend Ieveled two toons to VA and I'm at a standstill because the two ships I wanted to fly with them, the Defiant-R & Intrepid-R, I can't claim. I even bought the Sao Paulo refit for the costume, which is just salt inthe wound.

If ships are meant to be claimable by alternate characters, this will indeed address the issue where that is not currently happening.

what about the issue of not being able to claim the teir 3's when you buy the teir 5. (nebula and exceliosr) we were told they were to be included. also, what about the teir 5 excelsior (for those who had it before the season 5 patch) not having a console. is there really 2 different teir 5 excelsiors?

umm... it was never a feature to get the Tier 3 with the Tier 5 versions. they're entirely separate, then and now

Man I hope so! I bought several ships for Fed characters with my VA during the T-Giving and many of them were not showing as "purchased" "Free" or "Claimable" on my alts.
I have to say, this would be a deal breaker for me because of the wording in the purchase description. If indeed I can't claim these others ships, I'll probably be so angry and feeling like I was cheated I will walk away from the game (keep in mind I'm considering a lifetime sub.) Sure people are leaving for content reasons- but feeling completely cheated on a about a dozen c-store purchases will be the straw and my subscription the camel. I'm hoping this resolved before the subscription sale ends or my decision will be made for me.
On that note, you guys REALLY should go back and address the descriptions for nearly all the purchasable items. I bought the Caitain BOFF assuming it was for all fed characters, and was upset when I found out it wasn't. Nothing in the description says it was for that character only. It only says that if you want more than one Caitian BOFF you need to buy it again. I inferred that it was like the Borg BOFF in that it was account wide, but different in that it was not unique.
Luckily, it was only 120 c-points. But it's still crappy.
Purchases like "8hr skill buff" clearly say it is for that character only, so consistency is off here.
I also don't get why I'm allowed to by the "new" Borg BOFF even thought I can't use her since I have the other one, which I guess meets the "active" descriptor in the purchase description. I read that and thought it meant actively stationed- meaning, I could have more than 1 but not in use at the same time.
This is not the case. I cannot use the new Borg BOFF on any account since I have the old one. Another waste of C-points.

There was a Dev Quote that stated if you bought the Tier 5 Excelsior already (only with C-Points of course) you will get the Tier 5 AND the Tier 3 unlocked in the C-Store after the Update.
Same for the Nebula Class.

False.
The devs have indeed stated that if you bought the T5 Excelsior and Nebula in the C-Store before Season 5 went to Holodeck, you'd get the T3 versions account wide unlocked at no extra charge.

No, it was stated that it was always the intention that those who bought the T-5 ships also get the T-3 versions.
I cannot claim my Nebula-R ship or the T-3 version of that and the Excelsior.
More than likely, it is just because the tech has not been hooked-up correctly in the C-store, but it would be nice for someone to confirm that this is the case and that we eventually will be able to claim our T-3 Excelsior and Nebula.

Actually, CaptainGeko stated that says they they were going to give the T3 unlocks (Excelsior and Nebula) to those who'd already purchased the T5 ships prior to F2P (now Season 5) going live.
BTW, if you bought the T5 excelsior, you should be able to continue to claim the both the T5 and T3 variant. Only going forward will they be sold separately (BTW, the T5 Excelsior is getting reverted on Tribble to the way it is on holodeck now. You may have to discard your tribble T5 Excelsior and reclaim it to fix it. The T3 Excelsior is just plain getting better. This change to the T5 Excelsior is not in yet, but it's on its way). In fact, any item that changed from an account unlock to a character unlock, or any purchase that gave you something in the past that it no longer gives you (like the T5/T3 Excelsior and Nebula bundles) will be honored, and was always planned to be honored, and nothing less was ever implied.

I've highlighted the relevant parts of the quote in red.
I hope that the T3 ships not having been unlocked was an oversight.

Great, I have bought the Tier 3 Excelsior and the Tier 3 Nebula now because I thought it would have to be bought sepurrately (I own the Tier 5 variants since they came out). Of course I was charged with 1'600 CP (2 x 800 CP) ... btw, it's also telling me that I have to re-buy the Dreadnought for 2'000 CP even though I have it in the legacy list. It's highly cunfusing, since I got so many ships, items etc. and sumtimes I don't even remember what I have bought in the past and what not.
So now I've basically lost 1'600 CP and since the tickets are never being answered nowadays, there's no way to get them back. I have an open ticket about another issue open for almost a month now, on another account though. So I won't be bothering doing a ticket anymore.

Yeah, I 'rebought' the EXETER a couple of days ago, because I couldn't remember if it was Tribble and/or Holodeck I bought it for... then I found my piece of paper that I wrote it on... (Both)

apparently this would be to hard, for what reason I do not know, or I don't know having it not allow you to buy it if you have it , seems CO can do it, hell I can't buy things that are GOLD status because I'm gold because it says GOLD across it. Honestly I can't come up with any reason why they can't other than lack of effort. the support end of the game is getting worse now, from abysmal to well, indescribable.

This will likely come as Neverwinter comes closer to being released (or after), as one of the key features of that game involves (very heavily) the use of Foundry for players to actually create interior maps (IE room/corridor layout) as opposed to tweaking pre-existing maps like we do now.

Well if you already got one from holodeck before Dec. 1, you are not getting a 2nd one on those characters.
Not sure how this works on Tribble if you rolled a new character from scratch and got to VA or if you are on holo and made VA after Dec. 1. Which case are you talking about?

I've got many characters with these ships and I think only the Nebula was purchased through the C-Store. The others were gotten with the ship token received on that character. The patch notes make it sound like I could also dismiss one of those gotten via token and later go back and reclaim it, since they don't specify c-store purchased only. In the event that this is not the case, someone will be mislead and dismiss a ship they shouldn't expecting to be able to get it back.

I have two characters that have hit VA in the past day. I've been a subscriber for 694 days. Neither has received a VA ship token. Thus, the 600-day VA ship token has not yet been implemented. I'm just looking for some kind of an idea of when (or even if) this will be fixed.

First, it's actually 500 days that ought to give the token, since it's a replacement for an item we removed from that. I'm working on getting the descriptions updated on our website.

... So this is a reversal of what D'Angelo said? that the VA token would be given at 600 days? 500 days is... well, obviously there'll still be grumbling about it, but that's at least 100 days better. =) Thanks, Zero!

Zero, please consult with sdangelo and Stormshade, because there were some conflicting posts (between blogs, forums, etc.) that flipped-flopped between 500 and 600.
For what it's worth, I agree with you that it should be 500 since it's been "sold" as the 250 Emblem replacement that was removed from 500. But the last offical announcement I remember reading, was that it was actually going in place of the 600D. Personally, I don't care, as I've passed 600 and should get it either way, assuming it's not straight-up bugged (my next toon is BG3, so I'll see soon enough, I guess).
Note: I just checked your Vet Rewards page and it is listing the VA Token at 500 Days. So that's nice.

After the Gecko T3 ship disaster I m kind of hesitant to give much weight on one more post saying 500 or 600 days. Still, if the VA token is really supposed to replace the 250 Emblems, will that also be Cryptics final vote on including the ~60k dilitihium that some 500 day vets lost, when their eligibility for the special BO reward for the dilihium economy transfer took place?
Some 500 day vets have basically been shafted twice. once we have no use for the VA token, while we could have used the emblems. and the second time when some characters just fell short of getting the BO because they lacked just below 60k dilithium.

So
1) diliithium conversion special BO: Is it possible to calculate the 500 day vets (those who reached 500d before Dec/01/2011) but didn;t get the 250 emblems, with an additional ~60k dilithium to see if they are eligible for the BO reward.
2) what are you going to do to compensate the lost 250 emblems award for the 500 days award??
3) maybe d'angelo is in the know, and can share his wisdom with the crew. Intra-office communication seems to have some problems lately

i think the answer is simple: they won't
why? because a reward of dilithilum equalivent to 250 emblems would give a lot of people a lot of dilithilum, seriously upheaving the economy, reducing the actual amount of real money people spend for awhile, etc etc... the only downside? a lot of upset people, which they're dealing with already.
i could be wrong (hope i am), but that's how i see it currently

well then give us something else, it doesn't have to be dilithium. Clearly they can make up snazy rewards pretty quickly. the options are limitless

It's okay Zero - when the announcement of the change first came down EVERYONE here was confused too because it was stated it was teh replacement for the 250 Emblem vet reward (which did used to be the 500 day reward); b ut they were rearranging things and the VA!/BG1 Token reward WOULD be teh 600 day reward, etc. - and even Stormshade had to get get it straight and fix a post he had made, etc.

Could you please pass the sdangelo memo and the Brain Cell Plushie to your Web Design People? ...There was talk about a BO replacement for the 500day reward. Maybe just another instance of said something on the forums without reading memo.My interpretation of events is that the BO replacement that was talked about by jheinig (over several posts, linked here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3796966)) was instead actually used for the Dilithium Tax Compensation Reward. I think this because when Jesse talked about the replacement BO he refers to a "special trait 'Veteran'", which is, in fact, exactly what was given for the D-Tax.
I'm not complaining, I was "lucky" and qualified for everything, but I enjoy a good game of Sleight of Hand when it plays out so well...
People missed out on the 500 Day 250E, which may have caused them to fall short of the Top 1% and the D-Tax compensation, so they also didn't qualify for the Vet BO, which was first talked about as a replacement for the 250E. And the VA Token that was actually already taken away from all subscribers was generously given back to the subs to ease the lost 250E by being a reward for 600 Days, that was apparently also lagging.
Makes perfect sense, right? :p

I seem to remember this being moved to the 600 day reward description, so maybe it was moved back to 500?
Besides this I would like to weight in on the 500 day/ 250 Emblem issue. I still believe that there should be an equivalent replacement for the emblems and I'm sorry but the VA token just isn't it. The reward was basically 1/2 of a new ship and a ship token does not equal that. I understand not wanting to give the dilithium out, but there should be something that you could give that would make a good replacement, but please not another Bridge Officer. I was also lucky enough to get one of the Veteran Bridge Officers and now I also have one of the Photonic BO's.... and with my Breen, Remen, & Borg Science & Engineering I really do not have any place for them because even if I get more slots I can't put any more "on Duty" so they are kind of a waste to me ..... Maybe you could give out a special weapon????
Now if you would just live up to the T-5/T-3 problem and honor the word the if you were able to claim it before the switch you will be able to claim it after the switch, we all were able to claim it for 137,000 EC and now we can't.........

Zero, thanks for facing the music and admitting to the faux pas.
Could you please pass the sdangelo memo and the Brain Cell Plushie to your Web Design People? It appears they need the help as your guys' Official Vet Rewards Page shows the VA Token as a reward for 500 Days. I haven't checked the in-game Accolade description, but you'll want to make sure that's fixed too.

That's just a text update that Brandon already fixed. :)
Thanks for making sure we didn't overlook it.

My interpretation of events is that the BO replacement that was talked about by jheinig (over several posts, linked here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3796966)) was instead actually used for the Dilithium Tax Compensation Reward.
i m just to stubborn to shut up about it. Saying what i really think about whats going on here is just not worth getting angry about, or wasting more text on it.
