View Full Version : A way to Entice Subscribers Through DOFF APP

Cryptic / Perfect World Should Consider creating an Android and iOS APP to Enable Players play the DOFF Minigame in the said Platform!

It shouldnt be hard to do :
Tap on APP > Login > Choose Toon > Player is presented with the DOFF System Window as a whole APP and can start assigning tasks!

Have an Option for Smaller screens to have more sections, or just Enable Scrolling and Zoom.

Available Assignments will be determined as per the Sector the Chosen Toon was at during game Logout.

The APP will only be Available for use to Players who have purchased a Lifetime Account or Who have Subscribed to STO that Month.

Free2Play Players / non-subscribers / non-life members will get a screen saying "PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to use this service" when they log in to the app.

Please feel free to add to this Idea and give Feedback. :D :D :D

I support this. I would even be willing to do the work. However I highly doubt they would let me look at their code nor allow me access to their servers.

Support any idea that makes use of the web.

Cryptic really need to create web based access to the game. Millions of pages could be created as a result.

The Captains log should be supported with an app and Facebook also. I would love to see log entries posting to my Wordpress blog and game site.

I like this idea. That could open up the game to more people. And open up mobile aspects to the game.

This has been something a number of us are very keen to see happen. Given the continued interest, I am hopeful that when resourcing and licensing issues are resolved, we can do more on these fronts.

Sounds very good.

I would say add the ability to travel to a different sector, adding delay before you arrive for the time it would take to travel that distance.

in game text chat would also by nice.

Having it be a gold only thing actually makes a lot of sense. That's the first time it's really clicked for me as something that would be of use to Cryptic in a business sense.

They would have to make sure and keep expanding the Doff system though!

I gotta +1 this. Think about it. You could be the first MMO to cross that App threshold.

(Assuming it worked on my Kindle Fire (which I think uses Android).)

The app could be free for gold members but I wouldn't have a problem with them selling it to Silver members for like 5 bucks.

Cryptic's gotta make money off the silvers.

I'd love to have one of these. But please include a version for Windows Phone. This kind of app would be awesome in a Metro version.

I wasn't aware they had an AH app. I suppose owning all the IP made that easier to do.

This idea is a good one, of course. But does it really need to be an app? Wouldn't be better it to be on a web interface? So they only develop once and it would work on any plataform that have a decent browser available. Do you want to check from your PC, but don't want to login or don't have the game installed? Ok. Simply open a web browser and start playing. Or you are on street and want to check it on your android device. Ok. No problem also. Oh, but you use apple products? No problem also. And I think it may be easier to solve the licensing thing, since on the web site we already have acess to an ingame system (the mail).

Even though I am bored to tears with the DOFF system, this is a good idea.

I just hope that all other development of new content does not come to a halt as usual

I disagree. Browser based games (which is what this would/could end up playing like) tend to be free to play, but improved gameplay with microtransactions.

That model, which is already a model this game uses, could work wonders for this idea.

Please make a web interface for the doff system in addition or perhaps prior to app development.

The Doff system would need some additional missions added that would be considered "universal" missions or "web-only" missions so that moving from system to system would not be an issue, with the exception of mission chains, which needs it's own tab both in the web interface/app as well as in the game. Those could specifically be done anywhere because of their uniqueness and the difficulty of finding those chain missions.

+1 to this idea.

And - despite being a Silver player myself - I agree it should be Gold-only.
