View Full Version : Question about recruitment assignments (bug?)

I finally managed to achieve a critical success in an alien bridge officer recruitment assignment, which was supposed to give me a purple reward. The icon for the reward in the rewards list even had the purple flash in the bottom corner. However, when I accepted the rewards and went to my list of unused bridge officers, I didn't have any purples. In fact, the guy I had just received was green!

I've noticed the same thing happening with junior officer recruitments. When they're completed, I'll look at the list of rewards and see someone with a blue flash in the bottom corner, but when I take the rewards and look at my list of duty officers, the person I just picked up was common quality.

It's a bit disheartening to waste 20 hours to 2 days with a high critical success rate only to be shortchanged and receive inadequate rewards. So my question is: Is this really the intended behaviour of the system, or is this a bug? This is the only problem I have with the duty officer system currently, and it seems pretty major if it's indeed a bug.

Has anyone else had it happening? Or am I just getting screwed here?

The system is never supposed to tell you you are getting a specific duty officer, because it doesn't actually make that check until you turn in the assignment. There is a bug where the system is trying to be helpful and randomly guessing what you will get, which is unfortunately resulting in a lot of confusion.

This is a known issue that our UI programmer is working on.

My favorite part is that if you click on the rewards screen, you'll be shown some erroneous Duty Officer rewards, and if you click something else and then go back to the same rewards screen, suddenly your doff rewards have morphed into totally different officers. It's the Founders! THE DOMINION HAS RETURNED TO KILL US ALL! :eek:

(just a note to you, Heretic: I'm in love with the doff system. you've done some amazing work. the fact that there are as few bugs as there are, in a system this complicated, is quite impressive :))

Ah, good to know. I'll second l3reakmanx's sentiments too, this is probably the best mini game you guys could have come up with.

Another UI issue I've noticed is the rewards when you trade a commodity for energy credits. If you get an unprofitable result, the rewards still show 7500 credits, but when you accept it, you obviously don't get that much. If your UI programmer hasn't gotten to that as well, feel free to pile more work onto him. :D
