View Full Version : C Points more expensive via Perfect World

Since I linked my Cryptic account with a Perfect World account whenever I try to buy C Points I get forwarded to the Perfect World site to purchase Zen. However the exchange rate from Zen to C Points means that I get less points for my money.
1000 Zen costs 9 euros, which is roughly £7.50. Add VAT and it comes to £9 for 800 C Points = 1.125p per point.
Before I linked my accounts I bought 1000 C Points for £9.20 including VAT = .0.92p per point.
So basically you're paying 20 pence less but getting 200 C Points fewer. Why?

because you'r not buying Cpoints but the Zewn, its not the same as a 1-1 ratio change from zen to Cpoints.
plus your no longer buying directly from cryptic for cry[tic only points, your buying a global currency able to be used across all the PWE games, so you get a little less to account for that flexibility.

Btw, this actually is a problem because a few F2P members (and even gold members) cannot buy cryptic points through the STO website, leaving the only alternative being to go to Perfect World, buy points there, and then transfer them.

Kind of unfair to blame the F2P populace, don't you think?
Also, to be perfectly honest...LOL at the chinese overlords comment. PWE is just a company. Hell, most of what we use, watch, play with, etc. is manufactured and/or developed by overseas companies with branches in the US anyway. It's just the way the times are.

So how much earlier was this??? Exchange rates are dynamic, and with the Euuropean Debt crisis effecting the value of the Euro, it isn't that surprising the Euro is buying less value...

By earlier I mean mid January 2012. I don't like that I have to pay for Zen in Euros. With C Points I used to be able to buy them with GBP but there's no option for that with zen.
I think if I want points in the future i'll have to buy myself virtual c-point cards.

Would the VAT throw it off? Don't live in Europe, so I don't know anything about it. It works out evenly in the US, 2000 at $25 is 80 C-Points for every $1. 3000 zen equals 2400 C-Points at $30 is 80 C-Points for every $1.
