Would it not be really neat and Trek like, if we could get Heavy Phaser Beam weapon that fired a longer duration beam with no cycles. Thus, one beam fired per cycle of the weapon. It would look much more appealing on the Larger Federation Cruisers as well, and might be neat to restrict to cruisers only.

Heavy Phaser Beam Array: MK 12
Energy Damage
290’ targeting arc
To target 440 Phaser Damage 352DPS
To Self: -15 Weapon Power when firing other weapons
To target: 5% Chance: Disable 1 Subsystem for 5 sec

Special Notes: -This weapon would takes up two weapon slots.
-The increased chance to Disable a subsystem is due to the fact that it would only fire one time per cycle instead of four times like the current Phaser Beams Arrays.

this would be brilliant addition for a +1 sovy retrofit.

In general I support the addition of “new” or different types of weapons. I’d also like to see Cryptic add particle weapons, as they were most common among minor races and even a few major races.
