**I voted** Well The Old Republic is in the lead right now but, I have a feeling STO will surpass them real soon.

+1 vote for STO. :D

So far SW:TOR is way out in front. I do think STO has a good shot at 2nd at the very least.

 Sorry, I'm at a toss-up between STO and SW:ToR. :o SW:ToR has been leading the way for me for the most part; however, if I see some Klingon info (that mythical blitzkrieg) and/or see if there will be six months or lifetime subscription offers (similar to Champions Online) that could sway my vote.

One thing that STO has over SW:ToR is confirmed free-roaming space travel. ToR just has "space content." Although, the earlier release date does make it exciting.

It's just a wait-and-see approach now.

EDIT: Is it just me, or does Rekhan's post look like a copy & paste gone awry?

I did my part.

Star Trek > Star Wars

because

JJTrek > The Prequels

therefore

STO > SWTOR

It is logical.

+ 1 to SWTOR. Not by mistake either. See? See what consistent info and respect for your possible subscribers does? Creates a solid loyal customer base that is ready to buy the game because they know the key elements of it in detail and can attest to its great potential. Consistent updates, beautiful videos and a story that is skillfully written and released. You tried with the PATH TO's and then just dropped the ball. My vote is going to them and not you. I'm not pre-ordering this game because you started o earn my faith in you and then sat back and did nothing. SWTOR FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

By any objective standard SWTOR is probably far more anticipated than STO by the average person. Their cinematic trailer alone saw to that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjhJcm-lpjc). And for me, SWTOR is a more anticipated game than STO simply because I like storylines and good writing.

Like you, The_Sisko, although I consider Star Trek better science-fiction than Star Wars, I find The Old Republic shaping up to an ultimately better game (nasty Clone Wars-esque graphics aside), so I had to honestly vote it as my most anticipated.

Yet I don't believe it will be released until Q4 2010 at the earliest, so I'll have a lot of time in Star Trek Online until then. Maybe in those months it shall win me over more than I expect.

I've voted +1 as well. I've notified all of my friends to vote as well...

It looks like they've locked the voting though... we can't seem to get it to budge.

The more votes there are, the more votes it takes to 'budge' the percentage. Mathematics, man.

I understand your point, but pardon me if I'm going to be blunt about this.

* The vote asks each person its opinion per-se... not the "objective" view
* A trailer is meant to be all eyecandy and shiny, but it doesn't usually cater with the finished product (although Atari/Cryptic don't seem to grasp this strategy)
* And last but not least, SWTOR is getting all hyped and praised now. But remember that a few months back, STO was in the same position, but unfortunately, as the deadline approached the community started to feel a bit cold towards STO (just read 10 minutes through the forums and you'll get what I mean). Undoubtedly, SWTOR will suffer the same fate. I am willing to bet my neck here that in 8 months or so, the people won't be as pumped about that game as they are now, since withtout a doubt, there will be disappointments amongst the fans for various reasons. *Every* game goes through this phase, not just STO, or SWTOR.

Right now you feel warmer towards SWTOR because it has given you fewer disappointments than STO. But fear not... this will change :)

Star Wars is awesome. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was an awesome game. Bioware is by far my favorite Game Developer, and I have no doubts that Star Wars: The Old Republic will literally be a Game Changer, an epic new ideal for MMOs.

But I voted +1 STO.

Star Trek > Star Wars

I get to explore the galaxy and kick Klingon butt... Unless Cryptic turns this into an Epic Fail (and sometimes I wonder), it cannot lose, for me!

The Jedi are a bunch of whiny hypocrites, and the Sith are chaotic stupid.

But to be the Capitan of my own Star Ship, it just doesn't get any better than that.

Unless I can play as the Planet Killer from Doomsday Machine and eat Star Ships for dinner...

I'm a little confused. Didn't we do this already? SW TOR wasn't part of the poll before. Is this a different poll? Whatever I clicked on STO. I too am a SW fan and LOVE LOVE LOVE the old knights of the old republic games (second one is best to me) BUT. I'm a bigger TREK fan overall.

I'd hate to burst your bubble, but I don't quite share your pink fluffy view of "the new" BioWare.

While yes, I have been a fanatic of BioWare for years, and they fully deserve it because of the epic games they've brought to us(Baldur's Gate 2: SOA and Neverwinter Nights are enough to support that), I must say that ever since the acquisition by Electronic Arts, the quality of their games has declined.

As a fact, I have bought Dragon age:Origins, and I am deeply saddened by the fact that 2 months after the release, even with patch 1.02, it is unplayable for me because of the notorious bug (thread leak, whatever) that's been plaguing the game on AMD multicore processor systems. I mean, come on... what kind of testing did they perform internally? And moreover, why is it taking so long to get out a fix for this? It's a shame that a game with a story and plot so full of win as DA:O is rendered unplayable and nothing is done about it (it took them 2 weeks only to acknowledge the existence of the bug, despite the countless threads on their forums).

IMHO, the EA acquisition of BioWare has been the worst move ever for BioWare, and (I really hope I'm wrong here) it will be their undoing. I just hope that SWTOR will not be a disappointment because of EA, since we all can agree that BioWare >>> EA, but alas, EA is the leader of BioWare.

And while STO has more videos to watch, they're essentially the same thing: space pew pew with debris/asteroids. I do like the videos with the devs generally because they actually provide information. I think one of the biggest factors in my decision is that BioWare has been consistent in releasing information and Cryptic has not. We know just about every Federation ship and only two (with evidence to four) Klingon ships. With SW:ToR we know what all eight classes will be as well as several planets. There are other discrepancies about STO that we just don't have with SW:ToR.

Now, having said that, I still plan on purchasing STO and playing it indefinitely. The only thing to really change this is going to be if the ball is dropped regarding Klingons and their information release. Well, that and if I can never play a Romulan in an expansion within the first year. ;)

YMMV.

I'd have voted long ago, but I can't be honest until I know about how the Klingon faction is going to be. So since Cryptic isn't forthcoming with their info I'm not forthcoming with my vote.

Wow...vote however you want but I'm pretty happy there's going to be an STO at all! Give'm a break or get a degree to make games and then you can definitely make sure you get what you want out of them. Yes I'd love to know more about the game myself but I don't resent them for not having it out right now. Maybe it's SO GOOD that they're waiting for us to experience it for ourselves(I hope!)?

If you think game breaking bugs are a new thing for Bioware, then you're really wrong. My roommate's XBox copy of KOTOR was unplayable because there was a game breaking bug in the underwater part. There other game have had similar bugs too.
