I had pre-set my video options 1900x1000 at 2/3rds graphics detail.
While creating my first character, I got to fixing his pants and suddenly hit video lag. I finished the toon in the lag. When I rechecked my settings my detail level was set to 3/3 or 100%. I reset it, and the video lag went away. I am not sure if the character creator was what pushed my detail settings up or not.
The login server is overwhelmed too, but I bet ya'll know that.
