Alt-Tab caused Bluescreen

Anyone else had this happen? I know alt-tabbing is can be iffy in games, but I've never had one cause my entire system to go down.

Alt-tab out was fine, but on the way back in it acted like it would recover then everything died. OS told me it was a BSoD when I got the system back up. Running win7 x64 ultimate and a 4870 with catalyst 9.12 for the record.

Just had this happen 15 minutes ago. First and hopefully last time.

I'm using a Nvidia GeForce 9800GX2 with 196.21 drivers.

Overall I think STO is pretty damn sloppy in terms of managing textures in general. Throughout the game I see lots of objects frequently drawn slowly, then textures applied and finally mip-mapped. It's most notable when you get a comms screen pop up and the 3D NPC is rendered.
