I get an error message (see thread title) every time I try to log on. I tried changing my password, but the problem persists.

The problem was caused by launching the game through Steam. here is how to fix the problem:

...Steam directory -> SteamApps -> Common -> star trek online -> Star Trek Online -> Live -> GameClient.exe.
