Cannot select instances (autoselects for me)

It seems I cannot select any instances when mapping, either this is an open beta detail or I'm bugged... I can see the lil pop up screen with the different instance flash for around a tenth of a second then it chooses for me ! ( and usually kicks me from server)
Also can't seem to choose a Klingon toon , and I thought I read that feds and klings were what we are supposed to choose to play beta :)
Any help would rock or even just a headsd up.
Great fricken game though... sweet eye candy etc. etc.

I think the answer to your map question is here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=58067). The sixth response down. As far as selecting Klingons, I think you have to play through a certain amount of Federation gameplay first.
