I had both, although it was right before they took the servers down for that emergency maintenance.

1.) My character was a spaceship on the first ground mission, where you beam down and get that first rifle and kit. This may have been because my ship was in combat with a Borg ship in space right as I was beaming down.

2.) I also left the earth space station and was as a human instead of the space ship, BUT after about 20 seconds I became my Miranda ship.

This may all be because of first day stress though. Love the game so far!!
