I just spent 7 hours downloading the client from file planet, I have Windows 7 64 bit home edition, went to install and I get

"This version of the file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check you're computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or an x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I haven't seen a choice to get a version for different OS versions, would like some help plz.

I have Win 7 Home and 64bit to boot. It stalled without a hitch. I realize that is not encouraging to someone getting an error message but it can be done, DON"T GIVE UP HOPE!

I am running the client on Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate and it works well for me. It installed to c:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\ by default and is running and patching fine. I started with the "Star Trek ST.0.20100108a.0" install client.

Remember to COPY the zip and rename with 1 at the end. This way you dont have to re download the files.

the error your discribing could be a general catch all error that MS are famous for it could simply be the file youve downloaded has become corrupted, this can happen if you use internet explorer to download large files 1gb+ or the zip tool your using is not capable of opening the zip file.

im using win7 64bit the latest RC admitedly but shouldnt make a real difference and managed to decompress the file without issue using windows zip which is surprising. if thats what youve tried id recommend trying the latest copy of winrar or 7zip.

if you still have the same problem re-download the file using a download manager or use the torrents where available, i downloaded the torrent from gamershell and used azureus to download without issue

its also possible some anti viruses can cause interfearance with installation of some programs, disable your av while installing, kapersky add banner is also known to cause the same problem

what he said, i am running win7 x64, albeit the ultimate version, and had no issues, you probably have a corrupt download, sad to say

Someone just pointed out if you download a zip file and used Windows built in zip program it corrupts the files. So use WinRAR http://www.rarlab.com/

I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and haven't had any problems. Like others have said it sounds like your files might have gotten corrupted.

I have the same problem. I DL'd to a vista 64bit machine and a Windows 7 64bit using Direct2drives download manager which seems to unzip it automatically. Got the same result . "This version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running......" , gotta be a better explanation than corrupt download.
