Moving to a klingon

Hi all. Well i'm all set to go into the head start, I played exclusively as fed during the beta but now will head to a klingon as a main. I understand that we don't get the pre-order bonus items until the official release date, just to clarify if I have my fed and klingon characters there from the head start, do the items go to them or would I have to start a new character?
