No apologies needed.
So far so good other than a bit of lag in ground combat that I didn’t see a week ago and some login issues.
What did you expect? All of the people who liked the game last week in beta to suddenly decide it sucks now that its not beta?
I for one was never expecting a huge patch like some were. I think the game could have been polished more and more content added before launch but it is complete game in its own right now. Just not as complete as i would like ..
But hey its a mmo they are always evolving and adding. Having fun. This game is killing my Frost Emblem farming time In WoW and that actually says a lot for STO

No excuses for Cryptic they "should" have been prepared for launch. That said, very few MMO launches go smoothly, companies should learn how to deal with this, but that is not the norm.

Its 'head-start' official launch isnt until 2/2 .. so we still have 4 days for the magic patch.

No magic patches needed. The game works great. A few missing options from the C-Store. Otherwise it works fine.
Just because they didn't put your favorite options, doesn't mean there's something "wrong" with the game. If crap isn't working, then you can b**ch. Til then, play the game a little more. You might enjoy it if you play rather than complain.

The game itself is running smooth as silk, its the Login and Loading that is a killer.
It is taking me an average of 20 min to load into a new instance or sector or area. ONCE in it runs fantastic, but the length of time its taking to GET in is a gamebreaker. It wasnt doing this during BETA so i suspect its patch and/or network related since it seems to be NOT affecting everyone.

During OB, Cryptic said that they are installing new hardware, so we will not get this “Server not responding” + 40k ms ping any more.
I guess that the new hardware have not arrived yet , so we shall patiently wait for it to be installed.
You are so lame….it’s a rip off.
All you have to do is to tell us the f u ck ing truth , that’s it, no more ..no less.
But no , you choose to ignore your potential future customers.
That’s not the way to conduct a business, that is your way down the hill.

my guess is they simply did not purchase enough new hardware to meet demands. And they will now start purchasing more, have it installed before 'release' only to have the same problem again february 2nd when the people who do not preorder want to log in.
Cryptic's server load anticipation = fail

It's a better launch then most of the other MMO's I have played. However people seem to think whenever a new MMo comes out that all other MMO's before it had magical care-free launches.

You think cryptics server load anticipation is fail you should have seen blizzards. Blizzard turned there 3 year server upgrade plan into a 3 week server upgrade plan. They had to rush by servers in mass to meet the need. They where off by a huge amount.
I have also seen games go the other way and thats worse, when they launch with 10 servers get everyone spread out people complain about areas being devoid of people and the world seeming barren and leave then a few months later they combine the servers down to 3 to try and fix it. Its not an exact science and its a lot harder then you would think.

Same rubber banding and server DC'ing we saw in the Beta. Had 2 weeks to fix it (that's what an OB is for) and they couldn't even do that. Not a good start.

Any ways...This launch has been MUCH better than Champions Online. I'm not ready to judge the game quite yet, but so far it has been fun.

I realy dont see the problem I had NO issues when i was playing earlier with a little bit of lag exceptions when there were 10 billion ppl in the tutorial. Honestly if you realy dont like the game then dont play it and send a message to the cryptic team instead of filling the forums with garbage.

Let's see :
It's prelaunch
Every MMO sucks at start
The bugs don't exist, fix your computer / connection / whatever
If you don't like it, don't play it
Be patient Cryptic will fix it eventually
This is woooooooooooooooar
This *was* beta

Humm... no server crash. A few small problems that were fixed in 20 min. Some minor rubber banding... meh... damn smooth MMO launch I woudl say.
My fleet and I flew missions all day and had a blast. Even getting one mate to say he was skeptical at first, but is really having fun.

Had they waited another 3 months, 6 months etc, there still would've been issues because there wasn't enough players to truly stress the server and find every potential bug. Think its bad now, wait until Feb 2nd when there is awhole lot more incoming.
Sometimes, its very difficult to replicate a bug - but the more players that come in - the more potential there is to replicate the bug and fix it. So come Feb 2nd, lag will be bad for some people, and more and more bugs will be hit.
This is true of every MMO launch. Anyone thinking SWTOR (an example because alot of trolls stated this will never happen to SWTOR in beta) will be a smooth launch and bug free, I have some ocean front property in Arizona thats almost a steal at the price I'll sell it for.

This seems like a good thread to ask this...
Do the graphics look worse? I am not trying to be factitous. But they just seem well, not as good. I dont know if its because I havent seen it for a few days and its like seeing it for the first time or if i had just gotten used to it. I was honestly wondering if they "toned" the quality down on their end hoping for a "smoother" ride at launch.

My graphics looks just the same as in beta - which is to say - they are top notch.

not only is it worse for the players it's bad PR for a game to insitute server merges as that makes folks assume the game is dieing, even if the population is stable and even increaseing from what it was 6 months prior.

My biggest complaint is that the UI is *horrible*:
1. Not being able to see NPC names except by mouseover. Showing your own name *never* works, regardless of how you set up the HUD options.
2. No way to see Mission rewards after accepting the mission.
3. No way to have multiple chat windows.
4. Chat font is terrible, hard to read and not good at small text sizes.
5. Bridge Officer UI on ground missions is impossible to understand. There are no onscreen indicators of who they're targeting. You can't seen to keybind their abilities (or any other method of controlling them).
6. Skill point descriptions are often ambiguous, don't explain things well enough.
7. Character creator woefully short on options. Not enough head options, hair options, etc.
8. Uniform pips don't change correctly on promotion.
Overall, am I having fun? Yeah. It's just all these small things, bugs that should have been fixed, UI options that should have been thought through more, all the things that make a game seem polished. This game still feels like a beta, that they need another year in development. Hopefully a year from now these things will be fixed. But for now, I'm probably just going to play my month, then take a long break until someone tells me all these things are fixed.

you havent played your Klingon toon yet, then, have you? ther are a lot of issues with that faction that still need to be addressed.
we still have Federation officers on our player controlled bridges.
our PvP badge vendors that vendor Kits still dont work.
all the BO's that offer to join you are all engineers.
^all the above issues^ were known during OB. Granted, there's still another 3 days til the actual realease, but...klingon players still have another 45 days after release to get a content patch that gives us things the Federaition already has (bountiful PvE missions, crafting, an Exchange, etc..)
throw us a bone, for pete's sake. odds are if someone is upset about something, there are numerous other reasons about them posting that they do not mention it is just what they are posting that is on the top of their head and first to roll off their fingers.

Clearly still upset because few of us told you to stop whining on Zone chat last night about a small graphical glitch
You had an issue that the "warp out graphic was still occasionally glitchy and its all so amatuerish blah blah" and went on and on and on about it. Big yawn.
Did you really expect the game to 100% bug free? Clearly there are bugs and its fair to say I'm sure they are all being looked at, but to fixate so publicly and so repeatedly on such a small thing is silly. And to impact on everyone elses game-play by going on...and on...and on...aaaand on about in zone made you look supremely childish. Your final " JUST F^&% OFF" only cemented this.
Take a break if every minute detail that isn't perfect annoys you so much. Go to the gym, or beat up your little brother... get some of this frustration out of your system. If you cannot handle bugs on the games first day you are in for a very frustrating experience.
But for those of us that are mature enough to realise this is the way the game is going to be for a while, please go away and stop trying to suck everyone into your black-hole of despair.
This thread is a perfect example. You obviously have feedback to provide but rather than actually *give it* you instead start a thread directed at the community which by its very nature implies everyone else is stupid and fanboish and you somehow have something over us all. In fact, threads like this prove one thing and one thing alone. You have nothing genuinely constructive to say. You want to whine and rage and direct your pent-up anger at other players and spoil everyone elses game.
Sorry, I think its very sad.
