Well I’m caught between a rock and a hard place.
When I first heard of STO I was really excited. From all the reviews I had heard and from the ship images I had seen on the website, I knew that this was going to be a fun game. Even when I got into CB the game seemed like a good concept, an unfinished concept but still a good one. The ship combat is awesome—not at all boring like EVE’s—and the missions didn’t really feel repetitive, or at least not as much as any other MMOs. With that said the choppy graphics and the “away missions” bad performance really turned me away. Now I’m just posting this to ask. Has Cryptic fixed the problems STO had with the away missions being almost unplayable, and are the graphics problems now a thing of the past? Furthermore is there anything I should be concerned about before purchasing this game?
I ask because I may want to give this game a chance. I mean when I first heard of it I was willing to buy it, and that’s saying something coming from someone who hasn’t really been excited about a game release since Doom 3 in 2004.
*The away team bug I am referring to is the one that would make the game a slide show with any NVIDIA card.
