We are structured according to the Starfleet ranking system in the Star Trek universe. Some of our members participate in light role-playing activities. However, role-play is not required, and is optional in our fleet. We use a TS server.

There are many fun and friendly people in our fleet, that are a real pleasure to chat and game with. In their own way, everyone truly adds to the laid back and friendly atmosphere within our fleet. We're also highly organized and have a mature atmosphere. Many members are highly dedicated and avid gamers, yet their quite tolerant and helpful to people that are not. We also like tp keep a close-knit group of friends, thus we limit our numbers. Due to all of this our fleet is a real mixture of casual and hardcore, which is an inviting combination to many people.

We don't have many rules or obligations, but the ones that are in place are only there to support and promote an enjoyable experience for everyone. I can and do recommend to everyone to check us out, you wont regret it.

Hello once again fleet. I feel a reintroduction is in order due to my recent extended absence due to some personal issues that gripped my life. Both on these forums and our own I am known as AlphaSquirrel. I'm an engineer at heart and will be flying the big cruisers in an attempt to tank for our fleet. I'm an avid Trek fan and have dabbled in some 44th RP before my absence.

Longtime members of the 44th may remember my many posts excitedly explaining my need for a new computer to run the game and, as of this moment, I will be able to obtain said system when my tax refund arrives. I am picking up STO in the morning but until I get the new computer, I will unfortunately be sidelined from actual gameplay. Until then, I look forward to returning to active status pending the support of my section leader.

For those looking for a fleet, I highly suggest the 44th for its mature members, knowledgable and understanding leadership, and increasingly clear expectations for membership and advancement. This fleet has everything a player needs. Hi there Reamass, since you're already a member you don't have to reapply. But due to the wipe, our site has been reset about a week or so. So if your account was lost simply create a new one on our site, and send Latinumbar a PM. The rest will be taken care of. ;)

Although I was hoping to have reached lvl 11 by now but it didn't happen, I'm still about 300 skill points away. I have no clue how you guys lvl up so fast .... does playing PVP really get you there that much faster or are you all just playing a whole lot?? Well I'll hit lvl 11 today hopefully plus get some quantum torpedos as a reward. Then I have the next 2 days off to play.


Has anyone else gotten jipped out of any rewards?? I didn't get a ship shield and a tactical console from missions completed.

Good morning everyone! I have been officially reinstated in the fleet, for which I am very grateful. Special thanks to Dondead, my operations coordinator, for being so understanding. I won't let you down sir!

@greatzippy: At least you're getting to play! :P Eveyone will probably be admirals by the time I even get my new PC to play. :P

How is everyone enjoying the game thus far? It's disheartening to discover so many people complaining about little glitches and the like. Although there were bound to be some issues, Cryptic really needed to give the game another 3-5 months imho-without-playing. I remember reading games released in the winter typically don't have as hot launches and they could have used the extra time.

The Brace for Impact power was a power I obtained as I leveled in OB. I believe its around LT Com. 6ish.

Hm. Too far back again. Here's a question: what level is everyone currently ranked? I need to know how far behind I'll be when the time comes.

No its really not that hard once you get use to it and read it. Alot of the people that are complaining want every box filled as high as it can go and that cant happen. Not enough skill points.

Been playing since headstart and I'm not even the Lt Commander yet. Of course I am leveling slow and exploring more than I did in beta. Also got a fractured wrist now so I might be alittle slower.

Took me a bit to figure out. With having to spend a certain amout of points to level, I did my core skills first. Being a tactical officer I did all of the tactical now im working on the left overs on my way to LT Comm.

Yeah, it can be a little confusing. Part of the problem is that you have to figure out what system each ability is linked to. For example, tractor beam ability is linked to the emitters. So if you want a powerful tractor beam, you should put points into starship emitters skill (Lt Cmdr skill). This can be stacked on top of the lieut skill of Starship Operations training.

IMO, the best way to plan, is:
1) What class ship am I going to end up with? This will determine how many bridge officers you will get, and what rank skill they can use.
2) Now that you know what and how many abilities you will end up with, figure out which ship systems will affect those abilities.
3) Allocate your points accordingly.

Repeat for ground abilities.

Brace for Impact comes automatically at Lt Commander grade 3.

I am glad to see that the 44th has been activated. I would like to renew my membership to The Fleet and I also have another recruit to bring with me. I have already talked to him (Kuliz) and he would also like to join.

You may or may not remember me, I was joined not to long after you stood The 44th up in Nov 09, but left to form up with friends from another Game. We have since gone our seperate ways before STO launched. To bad they are gonna miss out on a pretty good game.

Both of us also have Klingon warriors, they are low level and not in any Fleets as of yet.

So in closing, I saw The Mighty 44th was alive and well and recruiting...at the moment I am a Lt /Grade 8 my Buddy Kuliz is a Lt Cmdr. We bring to The Fleet, long time gaming experiance and have Ventrillo with a very large player capacity free to the Fleet members. I look forward to serving with all of you on the front.

I think it may have been a glitch in the game. Sat night after I hit lvl 18 there weren't any more missions available to me. I got my but kicked in some PVP then logged off for the night. When I logged back in on Sun I had a new Patrol the XX sector and the First Strike mission waiting for me. So seems somethin wierd just happened like the server didn't recognize I completed the last mission or something right away.

As far as the spam msgs on the STO energy credits I get them as well. I don't see the point in spending real $$ on stuff like that though. With all the items picked up from missions that I've sold I have a good amount already. I heard stuff like this was big in EverQuest, people putting equipment on Ebay and stuff like that.

Just so everyone knows, it is against Cryptic policy to buy and sell credits for real money. Any fleet member caught doing so will be kicked. See this thread.

I have a multipart question -

Are escort canons considered energy weapons as far as tactical consols are concerned?

Do tactical console modifiers stack?


Right now I have a tactical consoles to modify torpedos canons and energy weapons. I'm trying to find out if I should remove the canon one and add another energy weapon one so that all my weapons (canons & arrays) have a double modifier.

Not completely sure, but I believe that cannons are "energy" weapons. When you use them, they deplete your attack energy just like beam weapons. (As opposed to torpedos which do not)

Can someone tell me if there are exploration badges of teh 6th order??

I'm sittin at work right now and when i logged out last night I was out near DS9 doin a 5th order nebula. I have 1 lvl to go before I hit admiral and plan on just explorin the nebula until I lvl up so i can get all new weapons, shields, and consoles when i go get my new ship. But if there's a 6th order I might just hold off till I can do explorations of the 6th.

I seem to be having issues with my STO character .....

First off, is anyone else not recieving skill points?? The only points I'm recieving are BO skill points, even after completing a mission the points I am suppost to get are being rewarded as BO points.

But to go back to the begining ..... When I was promoted to Captian something glitched and the Captain promotion mission never completed even though all the required steps were checked off. I submitted a ticket on it and continued playing as normal. I got promoted to Rear Admiral and that promotion mission completed but the Captain one was still showing up.

I've been away for about 1 week cause I needed to study for a test, when I logged in last night to take a break the Captain promotion mission said complete but the Admiral one came back again even though I'm an R Admiral 5 already. So I went thru the steps to complete it again ( even got another 5th tier ship outta it ) and everything seems to be fine after that.

But now, for some reason I'm not getting any skill point, just BO points as described above. I've done a few explore mission, some PVP, and some Defend the XXX Sector missions. I haven't recieve any skill points for any of it other then BO points.

So now I don't know what to do. I want to play but don't want to pick up any new missions since I'm not getting the points for them. So right now I'm just kinda floating around wreaking havoc on lower level missions :D I think I was freaking out some new players (-43 lvls) cause I was following them around during the defend the xx sectors ... and when they engaged the enemy I would just sit there and let them battle it out. The only thing I would do was use my healing buffs on them to fix thier shields and hull. Had I actually engaged the enemy @ my lvl (I did a few times alone) I shred them like paper so I just let the lower lvl players have the fun so they can lvl up while healing them so they can stay in the battle longer.

But back on topic here, has anyone else heard of or have this issue with the skill points?? I don't know that if I continue to play and gain the amount of point it takes to go from Rear Admiral 1 to 5 if the situation will just correct itself or if I'm doomed never to lvl again with this character unless Cryptic fixes it .... if they can.

I submitted to ticket, of course, but I guess time will tell. For now I guess I'll just float around doing explore, defend, and PVP missions.

So if any lower lvl members need some help and see me logged in just send me a message and I'll come to the rescue ;) Not going to be doing anything important for a while until things get straightened out.

As far as I know, once you hit Admiral 5 you do not receive anymore skill points, only BOFF points. I heard a couple of people have had the same problem with the Captain promotion mission.

So you don't lvl past future content of the game. But I guess that also means I did enough explore missions to put myself ahead of the game sorta speak. I haven't even entered into Borg space yet and I already hit the cap. I'm wondering if I should just hold off going there till the cap is lifted so I get the points from those missions.

But on the bright side if this it true at least I know my character isn't hosed up ..... except for the costume validation error I get when I try to put the Admiral rank insignia on my uniform ... which I have a seperate ticket open on. This started when the whole Captain promotion mission bugged out on me.

I'm almost at cap. Did the Borg missions last night. Got instanced in with a guy who left half way through one of them. Dirty pool! I tell ya! Dirty Pool! I have the same bug for the Admiral Insignia. They said once you get past AD2 that there are 2 options for the Insignia1 works and other is still bugged.

Yes, your skill points are capped when you hit RA5. You can still earn BO points, though. What you should do now is do the "daily" explore mission in the B'Tren cluster (borg space). You earn "marks of exploration". These are different from the Badges of exploration (1st- 5th order). The Marks allow you to buy the purple mark X items (very rare). You earn 5 marks each time, and you are allowed to do it once a day, hence the name "Daily". Bought a mark X personal shield last night with 800% regen plus return damage and knockback when hit.

Yeah, it's in borg space. Go to the transwarp gate in Risa sector. It will give you the option either to warp to borg space, or "join battle group". If you join the battle group, it's sort of like going to starbase except you don't have to dock with anything. Moving close to some of the ships will allow you to access your bank, send mail, and buy things.

I would also like to say Latinumber, that sounds like an excellent purchase! 800% Regen! The borg won't be able to stop you! :cool:

Yeah "we" did it. It was all Nrrdy, though. He was the only one left alive in the room when the Queen came out. Psyber respawned outside and would occasionally draw her aggro, but it was Nrrdy knocking down those 26,000 hit points (plus 4000 shields) of hers. Medic Kit FTW!

Oooh. I always have trouble deciding. I usually go with higher capacity rather than higher regen. But that's because I run science ship. Science Team 3 FTW.
