does these "alien" species traits sound wrong?
Astrophysicist : +10 Starship Operations
Efficient : +5 Starship Shield/Engine/Energy Weapons/Aux
Techie : +10 Starship Engineering
Warp Theorist : +10 Warp

No it's fine, plenty of people rolling around with that I am myself, some might take +1 acc or +1evade but pfft to that really.

Those are my four favorite choices. It is called Star Trek and not Ground Trek after all :)

i like accurate as there is no skill to raise it
elusive seems kind of useless though since you would need to stack it and full speed and all your power to engines to see any noticable evasion going on.
The above may make accurate seem useless, but fighters are kind of hard to hit sometimes
just make sure you take warp theorist its probably the best.

Honestly if I can't get all of those on my Joined Trill I probably will make a custom alien. I did really well on my custom alien engineer in Open Beta.

what would be good for a human starting 4 traits for space combat tactical officer?
Can you save skill points to us them for higher up rankings or do you have to use them to level up? The reason i ask is that i want to put everything i can into space and piloting, however i know i still have to complete missions on the ground, but i dont want to spec anything in there other than maybe a level 1 ability, unless there is something i cannot live without

It's somewhat like Stamina from CoX it seems. Anyone know the real numbers behind this skill and what exactly +10 means in real numbers?

Not really. There's just not enough info in the game to theorycraft anything at this point without further testing. I haven't paid attention to power levels when you get your first command, but the difference should read there if you make two toons, one with and one without the ability.
However, since these are basic abilities, I'm guessing the difference is really not that much. You may eventually save 0,1% of your combat time (that's still a few hours after months/years of play). But could it change the outcome of any one of those fights? I really don't think so. It's honestly no big deal from what I've seen. It's more for achievers who like the numbers to be as high as possible in the game, and to get a slight boost at beginning when these "+n" count the most.
