I think so. If you can think of any better, (please spare me ones like Rappelz, ********* and Ryzom *giggles*) I'd like to know...
(I know it's technically wasn't launch day, but STILL)

Rappelz. =p Honestly though, I haven't been in too many top-tier games in the beta-launch phase. All of em I've seen all have their own share of growing pains coming out of the gate. The free ones usually launch a lot smoother, sometimes even seamlessly, but that's usually because you could shove the entire player base into a small Volkswagen at the time of release.
I personally say Cryptic's done a pretty decent job with this so far. I just wish I could say the same for Steam. Ironic that the file host would fail harder then the game developer.

Almost : there were connection problems at 10am. But overall, yes, this was pretty smooth. Provided that the whole architecture doesn't blow up on monday when the masses connect, I'd say that Cryptic did pretty well.

Apart from the mass flood of people at 1pm EDT (10am PDT) that broke the damn server yesterday, and the delay in the lifetimers getting their Borg characters... yeah. It was pretty smooth. I was impressed.

Account server issue for the first hour and the occasional missing BO from a quest reward is about it.
There has been some rubberbanding/lag in the game but I dont find that all that big a deal for a new launch game.
So far so good!

I have seen alot worse...
Best one with out a glitch that I participated in was RFO. Although the game sucked in general there were no problems at launch.

I've seen worse as well. But if you think this was the best I'd say you haven't been in many. First hour I was wondering if I'd made a mistake as no one could get in. All day I had server disconnects, rubber banding and lag spikes. I'm definitely taking tuesday off as that will probably be a disaster.

Did the servers ever crash? I played most of the day and they never went down. Sure, there were individuals who crashed (I did once), but the game itself didn't seem to crash.
I'd say this was a pretty good launch, over all. Which kind of sucks. I predicted at least 2 server crashes on the first day <sigh>. I hate being wrong.

I logged in when the servers first went up slightly before 10am PST.
Had to logout to try and get my borg captain, but by that time it was 10am and the login/authentication servers were apparently melting.
Then I guess they scrapped the remains out of the server racks and shoved in some new ones, booted things up, and I've been logging in and out since then without any trouble. Gameplay was a bit laggy in areas at first, but it's settled down quite a bit.
Perfect launch? No. But it really wasn't that bad. Who knows what the 'real' launch will be like though.

I got one map crash message at earth starbase within the first hour, otherwise there was a crush at the door when 10am rolled around, but I managed to get in 3 minutes before 10 so I was pretty impressed with the front door's abilities.
at times there were too many players in areas of SB to even move around without jumping... and it stayed smooth. yeah this was a good launch, and I've seen some of the worst

Yep LoTR was the best launch in history. I don't know if I would put WAR as number 2 but we have to wait a few days to see if the STO server stay up and running, it might beat out WAR for launch.

Yes it could almost be a tie between WAR and STO. I had no crashes and disconnects what so ever except for rubber banding and lag in ground combat since yesterday. My playing hours are now upto 7 hours. Not a single disconnect, i am impressed.

Never tried LotRO at launch. But looks like your list is right to me. Few friends confirmed LotRO had smooth launch. I was there for WAR though.
Glad nobody mention WoW, launch in that game was horrible. /shudders

Someone's been drinking the funny lemonade. Have you read the boards about all the disonnects and Steam issues some folks are having? Personally, yes, I have seen worse...SWG was...*shudders*..tough. Yes, the servers haven't crashed, but there is some serious issues with the login and account servers. It's frustrating, but I don't care...I'm having fun when I can play. There's not a damn thing *I* can do about it, so why even really worry about it. Not worth it. and yup...I'm a lifetime subscriber...oh wellll....it could be ALOT worse. I haven't been able to stay connected for more than 20 minutes at a time...I just try and troubleshoot it on my own and report it, and wait for official news..
Enjoy the day.

STEAM issues are not Cryptics business, so I don't think that can be blamed on them.
The servers were only backed up until maybe 1030 yesterday (I was on and playing after just enough time to make a sandwich and get settled.
The Borgs were fixed as fast as possible. Borg players may have lost a day at best. Frankly, no one else got their bonus anyway, so we're lucky.
All in all it blows the crap out of WoW launch.

I've been impressed, while the account server had to be taken down once, the actual game server never crashed..which almost never happens on an MMO launch day. There was an issue with the borg characters - but they were recieving them ahead of time anyway.

I have to agree.... after the 10am hicup, the game ran smooth all day and night for me... No lag, graphic issues and only one "rubber band" event... I have been in most of the past major MMO's and STOL ranks as the best launch ever..
Now the hard part starts... continuing content and keeping the mission bugs beat down :)

Best launch Id throw out to Lord of the rings.
Some very basic quest are still not working, got some good advice in zone chat to try again at lvl4 which I did and it finished nicely, another one tho was to talk to some guy in earth starbase who then told me to go to memory alpha, beem out go to system and the log says I didnt talk to him :(
7 hours to get my Borg, I think that was a hard days work for the devs :) thankyou for working hard, mistakes happen, how you deal with them should be the judge.
so Ill repeat whats alread said not the best but not the worst either.

Cant change maps to a new instance (existing instances like Public Quest deep space encounters dont need to be created so dont count) without a 3-7 min loading screen. Seems they dont have enough server space to handle the demand on day 2 of the head start.

LOTR was a good launch. I'd say this tied, at the very least.
The issue of waiting for bonus items until launch was not well considered....but not the end of the world.

I'm having no end of trouble. Everytime I try to login it hangs at the Retrieving List of Character screen for about 15 minutes before finally updating.
Each time I change maps, like warping from Sol into sector space the game loses connection to the server and crashes.
The lag is horrendous for me, my character and ship rubberband constantly. Now, I am in Australia on ADSL but I play WoW and otherr MMO's without these kind of lag issues.
