My friend and I started the headstart at the same time and have done the same missions together all the way through. However, I appear to be gaining more experience points than him on my experience bar. We've both checked that all missions have been handed in as well.

Is there an official confirmation on how experience points are distributed in a group encounter? For instance, is it an even distribution or are there governing factors e.g. most damage done etc (which i dont agree with but its an example nonetheless).

For instance, lets say theres an encounter comprising of 1 big ship + 5 little ships and theres 2 players in a team. 1 player goes for the large ship, whilst the other takes out the 5 little ones. How much experience points do each get when all ships are defeated? Is it equally distributed?

In general I get:
1 Skill Point for "Tier 1" ships (Birds of Prey)
5 Skill Points for "Tier 2" ships (Escorts or Cruisers)
10 Skill Points for "Tier 3" ships (Battles Ships)

This does not seem to matter if I am in a group or not.. howeve as far as your "Sharing XP" question goes... if your out there killing ships to get "XP" as you put it.. then you are doing it wrong.

You could spend 30+ minutes killing ships for ~50 Skill Points.. OR you could do a repeatable quest in that same time.. get 150+ Skill Points, some Merit Points, some BO Points... and maybe even an end reward item. And you dont have to worry about "sharing" your quest turn ins..

I've noticed that the skill points you get when killing things seems to be proportionate to how much damage you inflict.

I've participated in killing a Neghvar battleship and gotten 10 skill points soloing it vs 1 or 2 if I just come in on the tail end of the kill.
